[sarcasm]Woah, an US citizen who supports conscription![/sarcasm] The whole idea of conscription is to create a large reserve, giving good wartime capabilities with reasonable costs. I personally and quite a few of my friends also view it as a benefit to the society as a whole, but I won't go into t...

Apparently Spey on Mirage III too. In a footnote, he mentions that the Spey-engined Mirage IIIK was proposed to the RAF as a Hunter replacement in 1964, "with the full backing of Rolls Royce": sounds to me like another round of RR's anything-to-undermine-the-Harrier campaign to me... He ...

I was a bit worried about the clearance again in the 8x8 version - unless the gunner is pretty much dead center in the turret and in a rather compact turret, the guy next to him has some fun times. The 6x6 seems fine due to plenty of space. I wouldn't call the layout completely bad - at Militaryphot...

AFAIK, Finnish Army has the squad, plus the vehicle crew. So with Pasi-equipped units it's a 7+1 man squad (although squad size of 6 is also given, and should be 8 nowadays), and with BMPs and CVs I'd assume they are 6+3. If the design is more IFV-oriented, having a dedicated crew would be a good id...

I'm glad that my 1st pic edit posted here wasn't a total failure. Looking at some interior shots and models of BTR-80, I can certainly see the logic in the first version. Regarding the engine placement, I'm actually interested to know if that would work at all. Atleast CV90s have room under the turr...

Doesn't the Israeli Achzarit have similar layout to the last version? http://www.nimda.co.il/image/users/199098/ftp/my_files/achzarit/System-Achzarit--layout900.jpg?id=9627670 http://files.radioscanner.ru/uploader/2011/achzarit.jpg Also, what you could do is put the engine on the front bit. The powe...

Hi, a few comments after reading a few pages (both from the beginning and the end): 1. Effective way for increasing manpower: Have some sort of national service. Brings about 70% of the male population into the reserve force annually, plus the volunteering females (assuming you go with male conscrip...
