No - you can use any image host. Imgur.com is the best one that's still available. Do not use Photobucket if you can avoid it.

It's a thread from 2014 -- likely the images were lost when one of the imagehosts went down. You can try contacting the author directly to see if they still have the work saved locally.

Welcome. I don't have an exact date for you on when the Plexiglas wind screens became widespread, but my general guess (based on the ships I've researched) would be mid-to-late 1944 onward. It's a pretty small detail in most photos, which is why you don't often see them in plans and model kits espec...

Model scale would depend on the DPI when printed... resolution on the screen is irrelevant for model scale of an SB drawing.
