Is that the Enterprise on the left (without the scatter paint job) or another Essex? That's CV-16 LEXINGTON. She never received a dazzle paint job and was one of the reasons she was called the Blue Ghost. Ah, thanks Charybdis.... I knew that she was called the Blue Ghost, but never knew that was why.

Some inspiration: ;) Truly inspiring.... The power of American industry. We lost 4 out of 7 carriers in 11 months. By 1943, we had 7 Essex, 9 Independence, and swarms of Escort Carriers in commission and more Essex class carriers building. Is that the Enterprise on the left (without the scatter pai...

snip... Now if someone would just remake Sink the Bismark! And that begs the two big questions 1 Which ship will play the Bismark, HMS Hood or HMS Prince of Wales? 2 Which ship will be used for HMS Ark Royal, and especially the Swordfish bi-planes? Hope thay would do something remotely historically...

Just saw it last night, and it was excellent. From an accuracy perspective, yes if you are looking, the bigger ships (the destroyers and mine-sweepers) were very obviously modern, but given that I think there are only a few floating museum ships from the period, much less active functioning ships, i...

If I may ask though, are you sure you've got your establishments right? The number includes the Surgeon, Schoolmaster, Bursar, Quartermaster, Midshipmen and Warrants. Since I don't have anything more powerful than a 6th rate ship (according to the Royal Navy) I have a contingent of Marines on every...

USA, Consolidated B-32 Dominator 114 were built in Consolidated's Fort Worth Plant during WWII, and only a handful saw actual combat before they were shelved in favor of the B-29. All examples were scrapped, and none survive today. Thankfully there a plenty of good photographs available on the inte...

one more question, again just more world-building questions, since you've done such a great job already.

Is there a "Lone Star Squadron" in the RAF during 1940 and 1941, or are Texan volunteers put in the Eagle Squadron with other American volunteers?

macseann - the Oerlikon isn't in widespread use in early 1942. The US will still have 1.1" AA guns (on which I based the 25mm) on many ships in that year. The 25mm guns will get replaced soon with 40mm Bofors and Oerlikons in later refits. You'll see multiple posts on each class as they change thro...
