I have to say that I really question the under-deck hangar. The US used them on their nuke cruisers, and hated them with a burning passion, to the tune that they got decommissioned and turned into IIRC a gym. It looks more Canadian than Japanese in style - they didn't really go in for ice operations. For a Japanese ship I'd expect domestic OPS-series radars but overall its an interesting frigate design and I like it. You're right--the flag & country was more of an afterthought than anything. Been updated.
