So ultimately they start off with a reasonable never-build USN design, and then turn around and pull something from their ass while loudly proclaiming that it's realistic.

Wargaming isn't even trying.

And once again Colo reminds us all who's king of the hill around here.

Damn son.

Very nice looking ships, the Esperance class. Of course your biggest problem with failing to give them a SAM and a gun system is that you're trying to make them perfect. Simply replacing the entire gun system for a sixteen round Mk13 launcher would fit with the trend of seeing guns as increasingly o...

I think that there was a lot more emphasis on ASW in the competition than the RAN gave out, becuase that is besically THE part where the T26 really shone compared to the other designs. Otherwise it would have made more sense to go with the Hobart derived design.

Hello again! First post edited: salute guns added to 1938 design, completion date of Lion pushed back to 1944 (camo's a little retro now, but carries more Oerlikons) and a 1945 version of Temeraire with Bofors AA guns added. I also took the liberty of adding all four to the main site archive. And, ...

Very nice drawings indeed, and they would have been quite handsome ships.

Would they have been on time for the RP10 Mark I turrets used on Vanguard, or would they have had the old mounts, as depicted here?

According to the Naval Weapons website a quadruple 6" turret was considered for the Edinburgh class cruisers, with considerable work done before the design was abandoned.

Does anyone have photos and/or drawings of this turret, or any other relevant info?

Already looking better, although the hull shading is still a bit wonky: The upper part of the above water hull shouldn't be a lighter tone unless it is completely vertical over that entire stretch. As a further addition, might I suggest using single pixel portholes like Colo does in his new cruiser ...

Amazing pieces of work, as pretty much expected from you Colo.

If there's one single disappointment about these drawings it's the screws.

I like the Duke of Tavington, although I can't shake the feeling that more than 8x2 5.25" should be achievable on 60,000 tons. The boat complement also seems excessive by this wartime date, when medium AA was filling every nook and cranny, although I know that's a pretty USN-centric viewpoint. I ha...
