You may not be seeing it, the rocket three dimensionally as a stack. Try this. Maybe it will help my explanation if you see an R-7 function. I would point out, that the Russians (who are no slouches when it comes to rockets) use pairs and fours with their strap-ons. The Americans think they can wrap...

While the criticism of 'cartoonish' is entirely valid, could you supply some specific details...... what you mean by cartoonish? hope that did not sound too sounded harsh. Thick skin. Nothing bothers me as long as there is reason behind the comment. It was more about the oversized (IMO) boats/slope...

The way the payload is fared back into the second stage and the exposed tips of the strapons will set up a mutually interfering series of shock waves. Oscillation sets in and your rocket breaks up before max-q. You get a nice fireball in the sky and debris everywhere. The Russians lost a lot of peop...

Now this I know! The R-6 will have sever vibration problems at launch. That payload as fared will oscillate as an inverted pendulum. I hope this helps. It's called Astronautica and is a quick source for rocketry on the web. The German rocket looks quite good. Are those supposed to be gimbaled engine...

Wasn't the low freeboard found on monitors mostly a result of the low draught requirements? The USS Monitor was designed to operate on rivers and estuaries that hadn't been dredged and without the aid of navigational markers after all. Civil war monitors, yes. At some point (1870?) they became rega...

I think the keel is quite deep. Maybe my shading doesn't show it clearly. actually, that hull shape would make you run into problems. your shading also does not really represent it as such. may I represent taking a look here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/63276563/shading%20example%203.png as...

regarding the tuna hull..... can you show me a reference of what that looks like on a real ship? right now it looks like your bow is very bulbous, which gives these ships very bad characteristics in waves. I think the keel is quite deep. Maybe my shading doesn't show it clearly. while a bit 'stern ...

OK my personal feedback (totally unscientific just looks) is that I like the top 1885 ship the best (then the solo 1885 next) That 1885 ship was the copy paste jumble I made out of Amphitrite, and the one I liked the least of the lot. I just think the lower ship(s) on first post are spoiled by the ...

http://i60.tinypic.com/2vk155d.png Okay I am still in the process of learning how to do this art. I've dated the AU ships a bit more correctly, but it looks like I'm creating a stable of alternate ships for an alternate Spanish American War. I still need to figure out if the ships could carry torpe...

Muscatatuck, might I ask where your Muscatatuck-class dreadnought would be operating when breaking ice? When I drew an icebreaker for Salide, I was told by Golly that a bow-propeller is only really used in the Baltic Sea. So, unless your dreadnought operates in that area, then there's no need for a...
