According to wikipedia and the ROK Navy's official website, the ROK Navy uses the Lynx for ASW and the UH-60P (Korean-built UH-60s) in the utility role. I've only seen a few pictures of helicopters embarked on the Sejong the Great, but it seem to always be a Lynx onboard.

I somewhat agree with you Eswube. I think the cost of operating these wouldn't be that much lower than say a Type 209 or Scorpene, but their strength would be in operating in extremely tight coastal areas, which is obviously why they're designated SSCs. That advantage may justify their decreased cap...

Pause and embiggen on the BBC video shows it to be a CAMM silo. Strike VLS is forward. Split AAW silos have been on generic-future-ship since at least FSC. - RP1 Ah, well, that would make sense because you'd want your heavier strike-length VLS lower for better stability, but the CAMM VLS is probabl...

Very nice tri-motors, Rhade. I've always liked Italy's tri-motor bombers for some reason. Hopefully you'll get time to do some of their other bombers/torpedo bombers.

It does look like a VLS by the funnel doesn't it? Maybe it's a strike-length VLS for cruise missiles.

I think what Ace was trying to say is the K-VLS and aft Mk 41 VLS are separate from each other. The K-VLS is just a bit aft of the Mk 41 VLS. From what few pictures I've seen it looks like there's maybe a meter or two of deck space between the two systems. The split appears to occur right about wher...

The US Navy puts its hull classification letters on its LHAs and LHDs to avoid confusion between the Tarawa-class (LHAs 1-5), and the Wasp-class (LHDs 1-8), which would otherwise look very similar, especially in poor visibility conditions.

Very nice. Always good too see more gators on the bucket. Considering the Makin Island has completely different propulsion from the Wasp, I wouldn't say you're warming over an old drawing at all. The Makin is practically a sub-class of the Wasp-class, so it's appropriate to have both drawings on SB....

Hmm, interesting. Well, first of all, your rudder looks like it belongs on a sailboat, not a warship. I don't think it's big enough to effectively turn the ship, and rudders generally don't extend below the keel line. Your bulbous bow is weird and I'm not sure it would provide your ship with any ben...
