The hull color looks fine; there is no specific rule that it has to be red but these new colors look nice, and if they're appropriate for the ship, then all the better. Just don't start drawing them in pinks and purples! I did (with my son) the Yellow Submarine and is still missed the pink submarin...

Thiel, pay attention to the windows: they are shaded!
I'll use the first color version for SS Manhattan (1962-63).
