Form-based? First time I've heard that. It suffises to say that a competent naval designer would let function go before form, from which follows that form comes with function. But it's your design which we have to respect. Most of the ships, tanks, and aircraft I designed would most likely not work ...
Thats fair enough...
However, your masts are 80 metres tall. A bit much no?
Also you still need directors and such.
well the mast need to be tall for long range spotting/fire control(and it gives her character), as for the directors, I'm going out on a limb and say they're invisible at SB scale.
If the vessel shown is as of ca. ,1934, then the superstructure would've been more extensively built up, masts made into tripods with better fire control equipment etc. The funnels may even have been trunked with an anti aircraft gun platform wrapped around it! As it is now your ship is a bit anoma...
What year are you depicting it? The Bofors 40mm L60 isn't available before 1936 and the Oerlikon in 1927 at the earliest. By then Casemates had been all but abandoned and you're lacking any kind of directors. around 1934ish the Alliance Nations Navy has a sort of ambiguity when it come to the of th...
yeah I know. from this one, I assume? http://www.shipbucket.com/Parts%20Sheets/Guns%20CIWS.png anyway, you have now this gun http://www.navweaps.com/Weapons/WNIT_25mm-80_KBA_Power_pic.jpg while the light guns of that time era looked like these: http://www.navweaps.com/Weapons/WNBR_3-45_mk1.htm that...
yeah, but is this ship still in service in... say... 1975? that will come closer to those guns. (and if you say that they were modded and now were earlier.... that design of guns was around 1965 as earliest)
I copied and pasted the guns on the Main deck(their 40mm guns) form a parts sheet.
most of those parts are ship specific, and by that need to be drawn by the author of that ship most of the time. you could best take a look at the ships in the archive for those, if you don't want to draw them yourself.
Dose any on have a parts sheet of ship funnels? I'm specifically looking for steamship funnels. Cowl vents would also be appreciated as well as steam pipes and whistles.
