As far as i know the only US destroyers operated by the RN were the 50 four stacker's. Q/R, J/K/N, L/M classes would be available 43 and 600 odd tons lighter. the Battle's are too late.

Nice counter argument. Edsall's would be the best with a range of 11,000 miles at 12 knots and a best speed of 21 knots. Unfortunately, the RN only got 2, and are mostly 1944 issue. Interesting. If your command had the best/biggest/most expensive sonar available, chances are you could not afford nor have available the same sonar in any other ships in the same escort group. If it was good enough not to require stops, would it not be best to have one of these against average sona...

Just playing along here. Hunter killer escort groups had a commander who directed attacks and search from a standard sloop or DE. AA armament was still fitted even though targets would be very very few in the Atlantic. IIRC hedgehogs were intended to be used with the target in the sonar beam, since ...

The mk24 would be good forward, you could delete most guns. Perhaps a VDS aft instead of the DC racks. Something like a Ikara midships.
