Hi Crusader,

Would a '60s carrier still be carrying around so many 4.5in guns? I'm afraid I don't recall the specifics but I was under the impression that such heavy armament was increasingly being left off as mere additional weight by that sort of time.

This is possibly the most trivial question on the entire thread, but it's bugging me, so I must ask ... on the PSS Sparrow, between the forward DP turrets, you have a door in the middle of the hull ... what's it for? It appears to be too far away from any sort of exterior deck to be deck access and ...

Hi Rowdy,

I think bezobrazov is referencing the way that the masts on most ships in that era seem to slant backward slightly (I guess to try and reduce the bending moment from the sails?) - I was actually about to ask the same question myself, but bezo beat me to it, by some margin...

As just about the newest regular poster here I'd like to back up what the others here have said. I, too, started with a daft AU idea, but, to the credit of everybody here, the idea was taken on it's merits and genuine feedback presented - as a result, the almost-final drawing is much, much better th...

Not sure if this is the place for this discussion, but is there a "this is how a turret works" thread in a similar fashion to the "how to draw a ship" threads? I wonder if it would fall into the same classification as the below deck parts thread...

Hi cvbbdds, Somebody a fair bit wiser than me came across a similar issue with somebody else a while ago, and this is what they had to say: Honestly, I think it would be easier for you to work off of the world we have now. Refine your AU for this world, and get a grasp on how history unfolds, how th...

Hi cvbbdd, A couple of points regarding the flight deck cruiser. Not going to get into the whole feasibility \ weights \ etc discussion - I am in no sense qualified to discuss that - but there's a couple of bits I noticed. Firstly, you're shipping a 16" (i think?) turret up front, however, there's n...

Hi Shippy,

You're not far off, from what I've read, but they still built it anyway!

It's also worth noting that Bismarck 's last battle was at a comparatively short range, something her armour scheme was designed for (as I understand it, WWI and WWII German warships were designed with close-range combat in the North Sea area in mind) - but the heavier deck armour biases this ship m...

Hi Shipright,

That's pencilled in for ship's boats and the crane so far. I suspect that once it's done I may be able to drop the catapult but didn't want to do that until I had the boats in and able to see how they looked.
