Yup, I totally agree. An 8" version of the AGS would be totally awesome. I think all-around, the 8" was the most versatile heavy gun of the modern era against both ships and shore targets. 8" Copperhead and Excalibur rounds would really devastate a shore target or even ships. It was a sad day in 197...

The Thud was an awesome aircraft. It was designed as an intercepter but never really used as one. It's really fast, but it was never very maneuverable, which is why it was mainly used in the ground attack role. It was also a really good SEAD aircraft. In Vietnam a typical Air Force strike package wo...

The Russians are still pretty big on putting heavyweight torpedoes on their bigger surface combatants. Just about all their destroyers and cruisers have 21" torpedo tubes. I kind of like the idea of using heavyweight surface torpedoes as a long-range ASW weapon. The Mk 48s range is actually more tha...

Looks like you're ready to go do some carpet bombing or nuking. Looks great!

The only thing I'd add is maybe some markings. Do you have a roundel design yet?

Yeah, I thought about the Penguin too. It's a good system, especially if cost is a concern. If money is no object I'd go with the Naval Strike Missile, but if I were building a navy on a budget, I'd go with Penguins. The Sea Skua doesn't pack enough punch for my tastes, but it's small and light enou...

Awesome upgrade of the Peacock patrol boat, which I've always thought was an underutilized design. I think my missile of choice would be the Naval Strike Missile. It's 100nm range is adequate for defending such a small, island republic, and it's a lot lighter for such a small ship. I'm not sure the ...

Nice design. If you look at the concept work for the Combat Boat 2010, the bigger brother of the CB90, it pretty much has an AMOS turret as standard equipment. I agree, I think the AMOS is a great weapon for littoral operations, particularly supporting amphibious operations. However, I also wonder a...

Given the massive volume of fuel such a large aircraft could carry internally, I don't think that the wingtip fuel tanks would be worth the extra drag they'd cause. The B-36 had a round-trip combat range of something like 8,000 nm, with payload and WITHOUT refueling, so it's reasonable to assume tha...

Er... maybe it will be much easier and more efficient to just re-start the Mk-71 production?
Nah! Big, armored, triple-gun turrets were so much sexier. LOL. But realistically, I think the upcoming 155mm gun systems are much more versatile and capable than the Mk 71 was.

Great design! It's definitely reminiscent of the powerful gun cruisers of WWII. I wish we still had ships like that. I agree with klagldsf on the gun armament. I think having the 5" and 3" guns together is kind of reduntant. What I would do is keep the 76mm Mk 75s for DP use and replace the 5" mount...
