Hey Erik, Yeah, I figured a freighter loaded up with a GPS constellation and instructions and plant for building GPS receivers and JDAM kits wouldn't be, shall we say, in the spirit of the competition. I'd imagine that whatever ship does get sent back has a fairly extensive slide \ microfiche librar...

Hi erik, A quick question ... any restrictions on subs? One obvious solution would be to supply a Los Angeles class and just sink the entire IJN one boatload of torpedoes at a time. Post-WWII exercises revealed the difficulty the Allies had tracking down SSNs, I can't imagine the IJN would find it a...

Hi all, First, not an engineer, feel free to ignore... However, that said, I understand that the purpose of the skeg is not to save the shaft that gets hit but rather the neighbours - this kind of makes sense when you look at the armour and torpedo protection systems necessary to defend the sides of...

Hi maomatic, From my understanding of skegs (helped no little by the Stuart Slade article at NavWeaps: http://www.navweaps.com/index_tech/tech-014.htm ) the outer propellers are correct but the inner skeg, if there is one (I've not seen any documentation to indicate that there is) would only extend ...

Indeed, this is certainly one of the better AUs - though I find myself intrigued about the War of the Americas and how it relates to WWI - is there any place where this history is collated? Reading the thread through again, I'm not sure if it's a single version of the history of if some amendments a...

I wish it'd happen too, though my (quite possibly incorrect) understanding of the H-44 design process is that it largely consisted of Hitler roaring "MOAR GUNZ!!!1!" at the design staff, and may therefore be light on decent sources.
