It seems to me that the USNA model is based on that plan, and that changes will not be required. The curiosity is that the period drawings are different, especially of the bowsprit. Since Fulton died while it was being built, it is possible that it was modified.

Steam paddle gunboat "Hernán Cortés" (1856)

The "Hernán Cortés" was a paddle steam gunboat , wooden hulled, and was commissioned along with her sister ship "Vasco Núñez de Balboa" in 1856 and operated in Cuba. She was decommissioned in 1884.
