Hawker Siddeley HS.1179 Sparrowhawk GR.Mk.1 Is it a combination of one of the Hawk preliminary designs with the HS.1182-AJS design for AST.396? A very realistic aircraft. Only comment is that the engine should be named by a river in United Kingdom. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/River_Lune

The Barrow-in-Furness Dockyard Museum website has reappeared along with its photo archive.

Amongst its contents are images of the 5.1 inch gun designed in the 1930s, and tested on the leader Kempenfelt.

Interestingly in 1933 the Royal Navy briefly thought about building heavily-armed sloops as a way of defending specifically to defend convoys against contre-torpilleurs. They could build unlimited numbers of sloops under treaty limits, whilst Britain was limited to 150,000 tons of destroyers, hence ...

I'm unable to find any sketch of any 5"/54 Mark 41 twin mount (as intended for the Mitschers) in my copy. The only sketch I can find of the 5"/54 is on pg130 (of the Mark 39 single mount). I've got the Google books version. Of course the point of my earlier suggestion was moot since the caption exp...

Norman Friedman's Naval Anti-Aircraft Guns and Gunnery has sketch of the twin Mk41 5"/54 mounting, but as intended for the early designs for the Mitschers, and as such has more in common with the later automatic Mk42 single mount rather than the twin 5"/38 mountings.

There is a small mistake. The window to the upper left of the roundel is the intake, and small circular window to its immediate right is the exhaust for a pair of gas turbines that feeds the active boundary layer control system and the air-cushion landing system. Apologies for the overly large image...

I did compare your design to the images of the model of the North American WS-300A design on the Secret Projects Forum. It looked very similar, aside from the TSR-2 style cockpit.

The author of the paper points out that as DG Ships was very inexperienced, there designs may not have always been realistic.
