what most of you who are discussing the AU-history seem to be doing is thinking in linear terms; i e if one condition is altered, then the next event will automatically be cancelled out due to the linearity of the historical process. But what if, instead of known revolutions, coups, wars etc, we ins...

So much more balanced now! Although i still would prefer the platforms for the chaff/flare launchers, well, that's a trivial matter, right?!? ;) You've captured the true essence of the design very well, Tim! kudos!!! :D

Ilike this idea! In fact a few years ago I drew the ensigns etc for a modern Scottish navy! But, as for the Type 22 BIII, it's not quite up to date. The speedboat (rhib) on either side of the funnel is missing for instance, and surely, if they'd acquire these ships, those would be retro fitted to al...

Dear Sir, what a comprehensive answer. I think that should settle it. Congratulations! And, since you're a Canadian, allow me to express my outmost admiration for the skills of your naval engineers and designers in creating those fantastic, rugged, and yet handsome ships. And, on a private note, my ...

Well, ace, I get your point, which is valid enough. Canada as well as all Western Powers are currently down-scaling their navies due to harsh economic conditions, with diminished GNP growth, rising unemployment and an ever more protectionistic world around them. My suggestions were thus entirely bas...

You're most welcome, Sir! I have to admit that I am quite impressed with the way you argue. Very factual and to the point! Now, I have to admit one error of mine: I have Norman Friedman's US Destroyers - An Illustrated Design History (which I believe is the full title - more or less...) but I didn't...

I have one question, since it doesn't seem to appear in the previous posts: what year is this ship supposed to be depicted? Since if it is as of FY74 overall appearance the following ought to be changed to better reflect a mid-1970s status: Replace the SPS-49 with SPS-40 (and where's your SPS-10?!?)...

looks nice, but keep in mind that APAR's and SMART-L's are very expensive. in reality, this would most likely not be chosen, but as this is your design, everything is possible. acelanceloet wrote. Yes, they are, but it didn't prevent Denmark, a much smaller country to invest in them for their three...

Pre-1906/07 ca. mostly black or charcoal-grey hulls; superstructure oftenmost in same color or off-white (depending, I guess on paint availability and Captain's personal taste. Afterwards it seems to mostly have been a darker hue of grey. It seems clear, though, that whatever original color was used...

THe Amiral Charner's did, in fact have a tumblehome, though MihoshiK is corect in pointing out that it was not as exaggerated as certain classes had later on; rather their hull was 'sectionilized' for want of a better description, thus accomplishing exactly the weight-saving measure the French naval...
