Like your escort cruiser. The ship that was ready to be ordered in 1962 would have evolved into this class.
Like the UK helicopters as well.

Sorry that was a bit vague. The type 80 and type 43 designs were what I had in mind. The two stacks look too close together in both. I was also wondering whether the Type 82 is not in fact a Type 42 with a bigger hangar. I always see the 82 as a Leander derivative. The frigate family also seems comp...

Hood
Enjoying your rebooted Royal Navy.
Your designs as ever are thoughtful
and interesting.
My only thought is that they look a bit crowded
for RN ships, especially the funnels/stacks.

Having always been a fan of CVA 01 years ago I got a modelmaker to make me one in 1/600 scale waterline. Sadly it is based on the old drawings, but he did kit it out with some models of the Vickers swing wing fighter attacker which was my favourite candidate for a Sea Vixen/Buc replacement even if i...

Hood

Caught your reference to these pages in "Secret Projects".

Very enjoyable thread and glad to see it back.

Will you be doing a take "pre Invincible" on the Escort Cruiser?

I have been fascinated by the history of the Royal Navy Escort Cruiser for many years. The three designs you have drawn from the 1966 Fleet Working Group look impressive. But as you mention in your introduction the 1962 design came close to being ordered. The cancellation of SKYBOLT and the hasty ad...

This thread is really quite superb I have been reading some of Chris Gibson's recent books and am fascinated by the AFVG project of the 1960s. I had always thought of it as a straightforward strike aircraft to join the F-111K force. However, it seems to have been more of a fighter aircraft for both ...

About 9 years ago I managed to get hold of some line drawings of the Boeing 2707-100 in the colours of the optionholding airlines from a chap in Luxembourg posting on the Diecast Aircraft Forum site under the handle "Tupolev". As I promised him not to use them except for my private use I only held o...

Bill and Hood Many thanks. I hope all comes together. Rifleman A Blue Steel derived ship missle would have been a nightmare to handle because of the fuel. Also, as the creators have explained this Alt RN has a sizeable carrier component. An RN without carriers was looked at in the early 60s but reje...
