Decided to draw what i feel is one of the more unique ships currently afloat, the RP Flip. Owned by the US Navy and operated by UCSD's Scripps Institute of Oceanography the Flip is designed as a floating platform for ocean research. Towed to position by a tug, she then floods her stern, turning the vessel into a giant spar buoy and providing a stable platform for scientists to conduct their research. Ship is depicted based on a combination of a reference view from a 1980s paper with most of the details based on photographs from around 2012.

You made an typo in the title but this is awesome! Only not certain I like the blue line for the waterline vs the normal non-extending black line that is tradition in shipbucket..... but I love it otherwise! Awesome ship and awesome drawing.

Love it and have enjoyed watching the progress as you've completed it!

A really interesting design, I remember seeing a documentary on it as a kid and being fascinated by it. Great work

Nice work, I remember seeing a cutaway drawing of this in a book when I was a kid and was amazed then about the idea of tipping a ship vertically like that.

In recognition of the current date, I present a hypothetical refit of the RP FLIP, the RP Flipped.
