we are not expecting you to be an expertfrom day one! that would be stupid.

what we want you to do is to draw everything your self, at your best as you can, then post it here on the forum, so we can help you with giving advices on what to do and how to do it. we have also our own project's.

But I will recommend to start on a smaller vessel, that you draw from scratch, post it in the beginner sections and some of use will help you become better at drawing, that is what this forum is about

You only learn by doing.
If we all gave up then we'd never have progressed as far as we have have. Even if you mess up, you can erase it and start again. Nobody has ever drawn the most perfect SB drawing yet.
The Olympic-class illustrates this, CanisD was a liner expert and if there are some small errors it goes to show even an expert isn't likely to get it 100% right. This scale always demands compromises over complete accuracy.

We don't generally drawing the outline of hull plating on our drawings, at this scale it makes little sense and can make drawings too cluttered.
Remember that 1ft = 2 pixels so we're drawing ships as you would seem them from some distance, you wouldn't normally pick out panel lines if you watched a ship passing you from the shore for example.

MS paint mostly. already have paint.net but my method is usually eyeballing instead of tracing

no don't do that, not only is it not accurate to the sources you're using but you're also working more instead of just drawing over where stuff should be

layers are your friend, use them

You know what, I just can't get myself to do this because I want to keep this in Ollie's style. I took one good look at the drawing and realized that If i trying doing these changes myself, it won't be consistent or cohesive with Ollie's draweing style. especially with the propellers

I've already messaged him but haven't gotten a reply since most users here are inactive

I will say those propellers are good enough. You are better then what you think. Just make sure the size is correct, never hurt to double check.

In fact, those propellers might be one of the better one on this forum. What we do, when we are unable to do the propeller correct, is to use some generetic propellers that we find on the forum

There's at least one drawing I know that does have the Hull plating drawn i:

there are some users where who indeed braw in hull plating on their ships.
