Post subject:  Luciano Federico: The Ugliest Ferry in the World?

Hello!, I come bearing even more "gifts", this time one of the Ugliest Ferries I have ever seen...and one of the quickest ships I have ever fallen in love with (discovered it 2 days ago and started this series IMMEDIATELY)

And no...its not squished, she really was shaped like that, its like they wanted their own version of the Birka Princess but didn't have the budget to stretch the hull to make it more proportional

and as a result...I will now ONLY refer to this as "The Brick"

The 88-98 was the engineer drunk? How did it float, was it on hopes and dreams!

Hi! Certainly, 1988 version is a aesthetically ungainly (very ungainly) vessel. Almost a cartoon like ship! Cheers, Well done drawings of ugly ducklings.

I was going to say it didn't look too bad.... until I saw that photo!
Ouch, I'm surprise the 1988 refit could be achieved, surely it must have affected the stability?

A ship only a mother could love...
Drawings are very good, though!

I wouldn't call it "ugly", just very awkward. ;)
Good work!

Judging by their enlarged superstructure, I think the ship was made with more passenger and/or cargo capacity in mind. There are other reasons for this strange look, such as to make it look like a sort of advanced cruise liner to make the company look good or the enlarged superstructure was just a show to make passengers believe that the ship was bigger than it actually was.

Nice boat, anyways. ;)

there are no fake deck, they are all fully functional passenger deck and a car/truck deck. This happens in contryes, where money more valuable than Diamond. So when you have a route that only have some cars/trucks, but gazillion passengers, you can either use a tons of money on a bigger ferry (money you most likely are not going to get back, due to low-cost country), or you save money and modify a vessel beyond what it was designed for.

That big chunk of here structure got removed in 98, shows that regulation got stricter, then what it was in the 80's.

I have seen so many vessel doing this, vessels that was build to transport 700+ passengers, get modified to transport 2000+, by adding 2+more deck, for then capsizing, while in route, killing half of the passengers onboard, and no one getting punished due to multiple straw-companies, that would take the blame for the "accident", thus the owner can go free and even more rich
