@Novice Original designers made a great work, but it's You who magnificently "translated" effects of their work to Shipbucket. And You are doing it so fantastically in this thread for so long, that I think I should rather direct my praises firstly to You. Let's face it - without You and Your work in this thread we would be rather "Warshipbucket".

Thanks eswube. The first work done by was indeed in the warship department, and if it weren't for David Briedis (aka CanisD) work on the Titanic and sister-ships, I would have never started on the merchant ships. Any way I think there is a long road of as yet un-drawn ships still to be done. |

@Novice Well, besides the gazillion of "as yet un-drawn ships", there's also matter of re-drawing already made ships (be it for esthetical reasons or thanks to better sources), so I'd say that this road is not only long, but even unlikely to end during our lifetimes. I mean, this community may end (hope not), but not because we'll run out of ships to draw.

Built in 1919 for Glen Line, the following ship was one of the first motor ships built in Great Britain. This ship was built by Harland & Wolff, who had at this time the only licence for making the Burmeister & Wain motor engines. The shipyard was at the time owned by the Pirrie Kylsant empire which also owned several well known British comapanies, amongst them being White Star, Royal Mail and Pacific Steam Navigation. In order to test how the motor ships were, several motor ships were built for the various companies of the empire. The following ship was built for Glen line and in 1924 was transferred to the Pacific Steam Navigation as Loreto ![[ img ]](https://i.imgur.com/2GdJMpT.png)

And so to continue... In the early part of the 20th century, Britain was a great importer of beef from Argentina, several shipping companies were competing on that trade. One of the most prominent was the Blue Star Line, part of the Vestey Bros. empire. In 1927 they entered the lucrative trade of first class passengers carrying, building five twin funnelled passengers carrying ships. but in 1929 the stock markets collapsed and there was no more demand for sea travel and the company converted one of the five ships into a cargo ship, removing all passengers accommodation, and also losing one funnel. the resulting ship was the Avelona Star, which at the time had the greatest cargo capacity of any cargo ship.
