I have seen a pic and a drawing of Aoba in 1941 showing nothing similar to depth charges tough...

Anyway, completed 1945 and 1944 versions of Aoba

Great work! But shouldn't Aoba's funnels have the black top in the 1945 version?

I initally tought so, but after i saw a pic of the sunken Aboa and models showing the ship at the time of her sinking i began to doubt it.

Maybe the paint just weathered away, and i'm thinking about darkening the top of the funnels to show that feature; after all i'm not drawn the ventilation slits on top of the turrets an all versions yet.

The Funnels are not shown unfortunately.

Here is Aoba in 1943.

After suffering heavy damage during the battle of Cape Esperance in October 1942 the destroyed turret 3 of Aoba was plated over and replaced with a triple 25mm machine gun mount, the cruiser then soilered without her aft heavy guns untill august 1943, when a new turret was finally put back in place.

Very nice! I'll try and confirm Aoba's funnel coloring on one of the IJN forums.

Awesome stuff, man. Simply awesome.

A minor nitpick though: could you try and fix that black blob where the boat meets the mooring post under the catapult?

I Tried something by using a lighter shade for the boat keel in order to get some more contrast near the mooring post, you can see the modified version in Kinugasa's drawing, while i temporarily left Aoba unaltered for comparision; you think i'ts better? if not i will try with other solutions..
