Superb. Certainly can't be eclipsed.

A couple of questions. What does the gold colour area represent on the main deck just aft of the aft funnel? I've seen this feature on most of your recent drawings.

What is the dark red mark under the no.2 turret?

Marvellous.

Don't know about what the "gold" area is either, but the red stuff under n°2 turret is definitely fire-fighting equipment.

Thanks all.

The gold area just aft of the number two stack along the main deck are racked side fenders (usually made of bundled rope), and the red equipment under mount 52 is a pair of fire hose applicators.

It's about time (and these won't be really overshadowed by the Essex. :p). :D
@Eswube: As far as I know Colo's focus is on the wartime USN vessels.

Would like to see also the Cold War FRAM destroyers of Gearing and Sumner classes, we have very old drawings for them.

Actually Darthpanda re-drew the FRAM conversions fairly recently (well a couple of years perhaps!). But I agree it would be good to see an updated FRAM based on this new hull.

For now my plan is (as always) to only draw the wartime USN units. I would love to provide layered PSD files (or stripped originals) to anyone who wants to produce the FRAM variants or the units operated by other countries, just ask via PM.

Do you know why the aft torpedo launcher has the crew shelter? It had been my understanding that this was provided on the Fletchers to protect the crew from the blast of the nearby 5/38 muzzle, but the Gearing configuration isn't nearly so closely coupled.
