Hi, Henrik! Yes, Fulmar is quite fast for a OPV, some 4 to 5 knots faster than the usual spanish vessels of the category. The Nordkapp hull is nice to see, with lines more reminiscent to a frigate than to a patrol vessel. And in my humble point of view, the last OPV of Norway are very large vessels, almost compared to that any other war ship, carriers excluded :) ! The vessels of the trio are really big. Cheers!

We need big vessel here in North, those small OPV other countries operate, will only get problems when the winter-storm hits... In Norway we expect our OPV to be out there, when other ships go for safe harbor, when the weather is to bad.

Thanks for your feedback, guys! Thanks.

The OPV Arnomendi is a design evolved from a commercial fishing vessel of Freire Shipyard at Vigo. Armed only with machine guns, by the other hand, the class is equipped with a complete operating room and a medium helicopter is able to land in a stern helipad. The four vessels of this class are often sent in support of the spanish cod fleet.

Cheers.

Hi, Andy. How are you doing? Unfortunately, I was unable to find any picture of the fishing vessel "Pescalonso", which was the first of the class and the only with previous civilian ownership (after its purchase, it was renamed as Chilreu, as the head of a class of 4, but is a slightly different ship). A further complication is that only the last 3 vessels (which were built specially for the spanish navy, with modified plans) were built by Freire, because Pescalonso was built by Naval Gijón. Yesterday, I requested the blueprints to a spanish pal, so maybe there is an oportunity to find the material for a drawing. Cheers.

Good evening:

The last of the helicopter capable spanish OPV, the Serviola class:

Armed with a recycled 3 inch gun of american origin and spartan equiped the vessels of this class were called "the stingy ones" by their crews. This class will be replaced by the much more capable BAM the next decade. Cheers.

Excellent series.

As for the Chilreu class, it actually consists of two series, and the first one (the Chilreu) is very different from the next three (Alborán). It is because the Chilreu was a fishing vessel (the Pescalonso) acquired because the Spanish Navy urgently needed a patrol boat, and the other three were commissioned to perform similar duties. But they are two different types of ships from each other.

Greetings
