Hello all! I was told it would be a good idea to post the vessels I am drawing from my work list here as well since they are all real ships.

This is my work list if you are interested in looking at the other warships I am going to draw.

Anyway here is the first French ship-of-the-line I have completed from my list:

The Royal Louis (of 1762)

The Royal Louis was a 116-gun ship-of-the-line of the Royal French Navy, designed in 1757 by a Frenchman by the name of Jacques-Luc Coulomb and constructed in 1757 to 1762 by Laurent Coulomb at Brest Dockyard. She was the fourth ship to bear the name, and the only ship of the Sans-Pareil (I will draw soon) design ever built.

Sadly this vessel never saw service and in 1771 was noted to have become very “deteriorated beyond repair.” Therefore, in 1773 she was broken up.

Edit: I fixed up some lines and corrected the date I originally had (May 1759) and replaced it with the date that the ship was completed (July 1762).

I am not sure it technically conforms to the Shipbucket style guide, but the lack of black lines near the bowsprit has allowed you to capture the detail in that area with amazing clarity. Great work!

Thanks a lot, the next ship on my list is the older Royal Louis from 1692! I have already started laying her out, and I think should be done with her quicker than it took me to make this ship above! :D
