HMS Hood was planned to have three sisters, tentatively named Rodney, Howe and Anson. All three were laid down but halted in February 1917 as by then it was clear the Germans had stopped its captil ship programmes. They were changed from the basic design, the above design is based on what little information there is about the other ships. More flare on the bows, extra spotting tops, the forward funnel moved further aft and the mainmast stepped close to the after funnel. I've taken the liberty of changing the after superstructure, adding a shelter deck to X turret as this seemed a likely improvement and would keep the qaurterdeck perhaps a little drier and provide more internal space.

This is great, seeing what could have been a sister ship to the 'Mighty Ud' :)

It is, quite frankly, amazing.

Beautiful! The RN should've completed them all to this design! :D

They couldn't. That was one of the big problems with flying off platforms. You had to partially disassemble them before going into action. As for getting the planes up there, probably collapsible derricks. The planes weren't that heavy after all. Needless to say, they didn't last that long once catapults were perfected.

Beautiful. Have a few thoughts on these including carrier conversions, moderisations with 4in & 4.5 in guns
