Very nice work and a good looking little boat, its really nice to see these lesser-known types making an appearance in SB.

It often amazes me with as air minded as the Germans were in both world wars that they were not that concerned with building a naval air arm.

Thanks everyone (although it is a bit late...)! Here is another small design, and among my favourite ships ever:

Small Seaplane Carrier for Commerce Raiding and U-Boat escort
This was one of the many aircraft carrier designs that popped up during World War II. The design was finished and submitted on January 30th, 1943 and depicted a small seaplane carrier for commerce raiding and u-boat escort. The second task was for u-boats on their way to the ‘hunting grounds’ in the Atlantic. The carrier had a through-deck hangar with seaplanes being picked up at the stern and moved to the front and catapult through the main body of the ship. Naturally, the design never left the drawing board.

Technical Data:
  • Length (overall): 131m
    Length (waterline): 120m
    Width (deck): 19m
    Width (waterline): 15m
    Draught: 5m
    Side height: 14,4m
    Displacement: 5000t
  • Power: 30000HP (2 shafts/15000HP each)
    Top speed: 26kn

    Aircraft: 12xArado Ar-196
  • Weapons:
  • 4x2x105mm
  • 6x2x37mm
  • 4x4x20mm
  • 2x450mm (underwater torpedo tubes, presumable for 450mm F5b-Torpedos)

Very interesting design DG_Alpha.
Just shows the ingenuity of the German designers.

A very interesting design, and a fine drawing at that.
