This is the Project 181 Kuste border patrol boat developed by Peene Werft Wolgast between 1974 and 1980 but never built.
Specifications; 245 tons, 39.2 m x 6.5 m x 2 m, three DM 12KVD21 diesels, 20 kts, armament two ZU-23-2 23mm cannon.

This is the first time the ZU-23 has been drawn for naval vessels and I have a blank copy if anyone needs it.

i got this image with underwaterhull (thougth it seems to be rather identical to the way East-German sources have drawn the underwaterhull of their pr.50 class ships.
Of the fircecontroll, Im not sure if they've attempted to field some indegenious system, or wheter the sources try to just give vague size of the SVP-29RLM high-angle director (that was fielded in pr.29 and pr.42 class SKRs)

Anyways, really nice drawing, and makes me anticipate what comes next ;)

Golly that picture helps a lot. For a start it has a scale bar and from that I've estimated the length should be 95m so I'm afraid my drawing will have to be redrawn from scratch! I think your probably right about the fire-control system, unless East Germany wanted to take advantage of its superior optical industry?

Still, it's an extremely interesting piece of work.

Very interesting frigate design nonetheless. Really do like the aggressive lines of them that a warship should have, none of that concealed stealth nonsense xD
In seriousness though, look forward to seeing the end result.

The Project 10 Falke frigate developed between 1952 and 1955 but ultimately the Volksmarine brought four Soviet Pr.50 Riga class frigates instead. Specs are very sparse, basically between 1,200-1,500 tons displacement but no dimensions are known. Armament is very similar to the Pr.50 with three 100mm, three twin 37mm, two 533mm torpedoes, two RBU-2500 and depth charges and mines.

Thanks to Golly's assistance with the underwater hull and a photo of a model of the ship I've been able to complete this drawing. Golly and I both agree that the scale on the plan is unreliable. Rescaling the drawing to the indicated 95 metre length not only makes the Soviet gun parts too big but the superstructure decks become only 10 pixels high! On the estimated length I've scaled to, the armament fits perfectly and matches the plan and the other features look right. Therefore the real length was probably over 100m long. I make no 100% accurate claims though beyond saying my estimate is probably nearer the truth.

EDIT: Thanks Rhade!
