added the underwater hull to the 1950 version. made the decision this was possible due to the hull not changing from 1947 to 1951, so 1950 should be the same too. due to different reference images, the curve of the deck is slightly different, but I think this is an error from the original artist. I kept it on the drawing though, due to the fact that I represent the concept as shown by that artist.

now moving towards 1954!

Holy hell, really? The USN mounted predecessors to the Mk 32 SVTT as early as 1944 on a limited basis, and the direct predecessor to the Mk 46 went into service in 1950.
Well, the USN did have a few things going for them that few other navies could boast of. They were exclusively a blue water navy and they had the single largest pool of electronics technicians and engineers available to anyone anywhere in the world. Both were rather important since ASW torpedoes were considered more or less useless in shallow water until the eighties at least and because early electronics was hands on in a way that's completely alien to our modern minds.

I will put them up with the never builds in the first post when I have drawn some more versions, but please comment on these already so I can get those perfected at the same time.

Nice looking drawings Ace. They certainly were good looking destroyers.
