Another excellent H Klasse study, I've enjoyed all of these.

@maomatic,
You forget the 6 underwater torpedo-tubes near the bow in your 1939 H drawing :ugeek:

Hi Mike,

this was done intentionally since all available sources state that the torpedo-tubes were discarded for the "to-be-built" version.
(A very good decision, I might add....)

@ all:
Thanks for the kind comments!

P.S.:
Does anybody where I can find some sources / information about the underwater hull of H41? The rudder / screw / skeg arrangement has got me a little confused...

cheers

Hi Mike,

yeah, the 3 rudder & 3 shaft layout is perfectly clear. That's what the drawings show and what Gröner states.

I was wondering if the H41 was to be fitted with the elongated "skeg / fins" covering the rudders and shafts, as (supposedly) on the H42.
A system that was thought to protect against torpedo damage to the rudders.

The drawing does show a similar arrangement like on the H42, but neither can I find any additional info about it, nor do I know how to properly represent it on my SB-drawing.

My references on the H41 are a little "thin" (basically just Gröner and some stuff from the web), so any help would be appreciated. If I can't find anything usable on that matter, I'm thinking about doing a "waterline-only" drawing... :(

cheers

BACK IN MY DAY, waterline-only drawings were the default. Rabble rabble, get off my lawn.
