Hello,

here's my rendition of the German light cruiser "M".

Design studies were started as early as 1936. The ships were intended to be high endurence commerce raiding cruisers and were therefore intendend to be built with a mixed propulsion system consisting of diesel engines and steam turbines.

Orders for the first two ships were issued in 1938 and their keels were laid down in the same year. Construction was halted shortly after the outbreak of the war and the hulls were broken up on the stocks shortly thereafter.

Kreuzer "M-P" as planned:

And a small bonus that would actually belong in the Personal Design section, but I didn't want to open an extra thread...
Personal Design: CL "Muenchen" in 1943 with improved AA, FuMO 21 radar and a camo-scheme loosely based on a scheme from CL Nuernberg.

Thanks for looking!

Nice work, glad to see the class finally done.

One question: what's that AA-gun? All the Images I know show the 'normal' 88mm twins.

Hi,

thanks for the comments!

@DG_Alpha:
It's basically just the 8.8 cm C/32 L/76 as was mounted on the earlier cruiser classes.
I have no further information about the twin mount itself. I scaled it from the plan that can be found on dreadnought project.
http://dreadnoughtproject.org/plans/KM_Kreuzer_M_1938/
It might be that the designer just drew a "crude" sketch of the "normal" twin mount, but I didn't want do deviate from the plan too much.

Aside from that, Gröner shows a similar looking twin-mount in his drawing of the M-class. ("Kriegsschiffe 1815-1945 Vol. I")

P.S.:
Speaking of Gröner, I have edited the belt armor according to the text in the above mentioned book.

Great work Maomatic,

These would have been a handful for the Allies if they had completed in 1940-42.
