In 1935 the naval doctrines in Soviet Union changed from light unit focused 'small war at sea' theory to large ocean going fleet centered around battleships. This drastic change of naval philosofy is usually linked all the way up to Josif Stalin who followed and unfortunately often intervended on the actual ship design process. Several ships were planned and even laid down according to the new shipbulding program and as I've used most of them in my AU purposes I decided to post them here. Not all never-where projects of that era are presented, only those which were either actually laid down or those officially approved for construction. So here they are:

Awesome additions! :D

Just one language note: "Bolshogo Okeanskogo Flota" means "...of the Great Oceanic Fleet[/b] or "Great Oceanic Fleet's... . (Genitive grammatical case instead of nominative one) Language-wise it would be more proper to either add word "Korabli" at the beginning of the title (thereby making the title "Ships of the Great Oceanic Fleet") or change it to "Bolshoi Okeanski Flot" ("Great Oceanic Fleet"). ;) :ugeek:

All of these are excellent additions, well drawn and very interesting to see in SB.
Glad to see the AU work has finally seen some real never-weres emerge.

Agreed with Hood, very interesting designs to see in SB. My opinion is that some of these were too ambitious for USSR shipbuilding capabilities, while some other could be built and change completely the Cold War (e.g the Pr.71 Carrier and its air wing).

Very nice additions! The project 68 reminds me of Italian ships of the era and of the Dutch DE RUYTER as well.
