Simple you can use a battleship, but if you need a more mobile gun platform... and the last battleships was build in the 40's they are getting a bit old. And modern grenades in a 208mm has almost the same firepower as a battleship grenade. and you have also have to think about how much will a fleet of this cost to build and operate then a fleet of battleship.

Think about it a bit, and you understand how a military tactic function. Remember THIS IS NOT NS you have to think realistic.

Okay think about it 55 ships = 55 guns, and if this gun shoot 12 rounds in a minute that give you 660 shots from this 55 ships, 1 hour artillery support is 39600 (Realistic 30000), and in a 8 hour constant fire bombardment is 316800 (realistic 240000).

So if the circumstances is correct, the mountain has weakpoints, or the stone is of a type stone of a lower mass density, and most likely has been hollowed out for tunnels, and all grenades hits in a sweet point, what happens?

One thing to keep in mind for your designs is that the USN, when evaluating dedicated fire support ships, kept coming back to the idea of a dedicated well deck aft. This well deck wasn't for amphibious assaults, but for barges that would bring the shells to the ship from the ammunition supply ships. Now that was important because the USN wanted the fire support ships to have a shallow draft so they could get closer to shore - something that doesn't look to be the case here. It's still something to consider.

An even better question is why not a big gun on a multi-mission ship? Like your previous design?

yeah I could do that, but this one was meant as a ship that carry the extra gun that those multi-mission ship doesn't have.

And why she is so deep is because the 208mm gun is pretty damn heavy, so this ship is one the limit, but if I want to go closer to shore I have to design a ship that carry 5" (127mm) gun in a shallow hull.

for the dedicated well deck, hm. I have drawn in double doors on both said of the ship for ammunition supply and so on.

while Server class and Lightning class are delivering heavy artillery, Player class is build to operate in the zone between the larger artillery ships and coastline, even ram it hull on the beach so it will be a stable fire platform, and can deploy it's own small 105mm artillery half track on the beach. In long range transport these ship is transported on large container ships or similar.

CSS Dragar was a Dragar class heavy cruiser used by the Caledonian Navy. She was classified as a Heavy cruiser even when she carried 3 triple 245 mm guns. the hull was sharp but very flat bottom for improved Displacement. this ship was build with a compromise between large gun power and speed. During the 60's and 70's she got an extensive upgrade and rebuild, that make her the most powerful artillery ship in use by the Caledonian Navy all the way in to the 80's. But one of here biggest upgrade was the Large Globestik 3Z-24MF Long Range 2D Radar.
