An idea for a frigate built for escorting warships and merchant ships with great emphasise on ASW warfare. The ship is also built to be able to go fast in the most extreme weather condition possible. And the wierd looking thingy in front of the front turret is a weather shield to protect the gun from sea spray.

Snip
A ship for ASW would need at least Sonar for submarine detection, and this is missing here. Apart from that your ship looks more of a general purpose frigate, a sort of "jack of all trades", but master of none.
Also you'll need detailing and shading for a more Shipbucket look.

that spray shield does not enough good to be worth the blocking of the mount it does now.
also, what the hell have you done with the Mk 13?

AIP subs are quiter. Normal Electro-Diesels are not. At least not when comparing them to the Seawolf and the Virginia wich are the best nukes in the world.
and that is why the dutch dieselelectric subs still beat the USN ones in exercises every now and then.
really, diesel subs are quieter then nukes, due to the nukes needing to cool their reactor constantly + the turbines vibrating while the electrical engines make next to no noise except for the propeller. nukes have the speed and range on their side, though.

awwhhh, Ace beat me too it

anyway my point exactly.

And then we have the Norwegian Ula Class and Kobben class and those Swedish subs that have on sunk an entire aircraft carrier fleet/group under naval exercise. At least the Ula class get "DQ" many times from naval exercise, reason: "Sinking to many to fast, and are to difficult to be spotted" Remember last year two of the Ula class had during and exercise let them self be seen on the sensor many time for fun, driving in circle around those vessels, and ended up with surfacing on both side of one of the vessels in the middle of an combat group, for then crash diving and got away...! mad Norwegians are mad...

The ASW missile launcher is half Mk 16, half Mk 13. And Heuhen, madness at sea is fun, much fun. And as I stated earlier, it is supposed to only be good at hunting subs and riding waves. It´s supposed to be cheap and produced in huge numbers.

Mk 16? you mean the pepperbox? that won't work, the Mk 13 launch rail is way too short and the magazine cannot store ASROC. you really should design a new system if you want anything like that...

I believe the new launcher should be adequate. It also allows a SAM to be added, giving the ship AAW capabilities.

that is a bit extreme lengthened (it can be shorter then that) and you might run into magazine problems, but ah well, this MIGHT work, as this is AU :P

Should not the launcher arm be as long, if not longer than the missiles it fires?

look up a pic of the Mk 26, Mk 10, Mk 12, Mk 13 launchers with missiles on the rail and answer that yourself ;)
