in Caledonia Navy it's classified as a Heavy Cruiser, Caledonia refuse to call it a Battlecruiser! During the design of the class, there was put forward a proposal to arme these Heavy Cruiser with 12" twin guns instead of these heavy 6,1" triple "semi-automated" main guns!

I have to do some never were design of the Caledonia Armed forces... that could be fun.

Ships of Caledonia three main support fleet, the 3th, 6th and 12th support fleet. (all other support fleets from the war was... retired)

the 3 support fleet of caledonia was a fleet with interesting capability. They motto was to make it so easy as possible for there friends and hard for others.

3th all purpose support fleet
Motto: "I'm your mother"
Numbers of ships: 182

The 3th support fleet was the largest fleet, but was mainly several other small fleets/squadron put under the flag and command of one fleet, to reduce the size of department.
This fleet did mainly support, close to home. with mostly small vessel and ships divided up in several squadron; some in minehunter squadron, other in minelayer squadron, crew transport squadron, training squadron, etc.

6th support fleet
Motto: "You called sir"
Number of ships: 23

The 6th support fleet was the main fleet tasked with supporting cruiser, destroyers and aircraft carrier fleet.

The "special" 12th support fleet
Motto: "We are to serve"
Number of ships: 36

The 12th Support fleet, was mainly tasked with supporting landing operation and special forces operation, during the early 40's under command of Rear Admiral D. Jocar (aka. the mad-Admiral) this fleet attacked and defeated an attacking fleet, that was trying to outflank the army's landing operation.

This fleet us unique in that they have there own two helicopter carrier that are equipped with catapult and arresting gears for fighter jets.

L3 class-series
was the series of small support fleet of various types, they was used from everything: from supporting small island bases; to used as command vessel; or training ship; medic; etc.
With there sturdy build and simple maintain and upgrade due to there size, this class vessels saw a long carrier in the Caledonian Navy some of them even got there engine replaced at some point.

L5 class
Was mainly a larger version of the L3 class, and had roles thereafter. while there was build many L3 class, there was build just a handful of L5-class and some of the got a long carrier in the Navy or sold of to commercial use.

[ img ]

L6 class
There was a need of a larger vessel, that could transport landing craft and supply, with a decent speed. Thus the L6 class come about. It didn't get a long carrier due to new ideas for future vessel come around, among them an all in on roro-vessel with it's own dock. The L6 class would see an carrier in the commercial use, but most of them would end up as scrap or target practice.

L18 class
The 12th support fleet Helicopter carrier with support capability as a secondary mission. It was equid with a catapult and arresting gear for fighter jet, but did mainly carry helicopters. It had large fuel tanks so it could refuel ships around it pluss the hangar doubled up as an cargo deck. The idea around it come from Rear Admiral D. Jocar (aka. the mad-Admiral) he always said that a support fleet should have a limited offensive capability for rainy days. There was build 3 ships in the class and they had quit a long carrier and was modified several times, one of them ended up as an large command and ELINT ship.

Really really nice vessels , some of the finest , great work done especially with the L18 class , which is just amazing.
Those L3's with a helipad are also good addition.

There was two main design, AAW variant and a ASW variant. due to there small size and rather cheap to produce and not being so manpower hungry vessel, it was build quite a few of them.
3 of them was lost in accidents. AAW variant was replaced by ASW variant.

Very nice work HeuHen, as usually. A solid little corvette with classic "H.Heuser" lines. I quess the asw mortar is kind of variation of Terne?

the ASW mortar have some inspiration from Terne. but this one is designed to carpet bomb a large area with it's capability to reload on the go, so basically you don't need to be accurate... to scare the living shit out of an submariner!

The L-series is very attractive, although I question the use of four shafts on L18. Cheaper (both in cost and in hull volume) to use two larger screws.
