Left over from older drawing, and I totally ignored it! Was supposed to have something simpler.

Update:

- aft SPG-62 replaced by Mk-95
- Forward SPG-62 replaced by a short range 3D radar. (AAW isn't this ship task, so that's good enough)

Admiral Mirk class

Designed of the class started already in the 80's as soon as the last submarine in the previous class was finish build, but first in the 90's the design process took off. The New design was supposed to be an more advance ballistic and cruise missile carrying submarine, using similar sensor platforms as an attack submarines and have more offensive non-nuclear capability (?). In the initial order, there was ordered 8 of them, but later on 2 of them go cancelled, when the technology advancement had advanced so much that the navy saw the value to do an redesign of submarine. Later on in a block 2 variant the Navy ordered 5 more, increasing the Mirk class fleet to 11 total and early replacing some of the older SSBN and special mission submarines.

The Admiral Mirk class was designed as an deterrent platform but also and Strategic support platform, in form of it's various weapons. It carried:
- The large, old and proven Type 15 SLBM that was the only SLBM in the navy, capable to carry on of the big Nuclear warheads and is also MIRVed capable, up to 13 warhead, some also is one of the reason it is still in service.
- But the more standard SLBM onboard would be the newer Mk.18 with it's MIRVed capability, up to 8 warhead.
- It also could carry the Mk. 12 some is an Medium range SLBM, but rarely did so, since one of them took up an entire silo alone. The Mk.12 would later be retired.
- The Mk. 21 Short range SLBM was quite popular on the class. One of the reason was they could carry 2-3 of them in the silo, and secondly although it is an SLBM it was also capable to fly like an cruise missile, with cruise missile capability.
- A4C-v3 is an submarine launched ASuW missile, and the class would always have a least 2 silo with up to 5 of them in each silo.
- TA9-SL3 is an submarine launched AAW missiles, that could be packed on three levels in the silo, with 10 on each level, totally load in a silo would be 30 of them, and all SSBN/SSGN captains would insist on having minimum one silo of them.

Later version of the class would have the two forward silo modified as an tactical silo, capable to carry ROV's and specially ROV's equipped with advance sensors and sonar, increasing the submarine capability.

But there is very little known of the submarine capability and what it can do, since the Navy submarine branch are extremely secretive about what they are doing.

Fleet Admiral Sir Marikon class

With canceling of the production of Admiral Mirk class, due to design problems that was discovered well trough the sea trail of the 3 ship in class, and with 2 more in production, it was decided to build those two and then redesign and build an improved version of Admiral Mirk class.

The improved version was a stretched version of the Adm. Mirk class, stretched to 145 meters, not the biggest submarine that have ever been in Caledonia Navy service, but close to. The class was named after Fleet Admiral Sir Marikon, one of the last great military leaders from the old days. Fleet Admiral Sir Marikon, Count of Marikon, named Hero of Caledonia in 1528.

Design

The class received a lot of design changes and technology improvements over the previous class. Major design changes was:
- lengthening the hull to give space for improved sonars
- made taller to give space for new SLBM silo
- new sail, with improved flow over it.
- bigger and more powerful powerplant
- improvement to the crew comfort, now every crew member have their own bunk. and female crew have their own area.
- The class also have a dedicated gym, that also double up as a cinema x-amount of times a month.

Major things the Navy also did was going from imported and licens build parts to home developed parts. One of the major things was it's sonars, where AB-tech. developed a new type of sonars that "officially" is described as extremely good and give a realy good coverage. This class also received the new large SLBM silo's capable to carry the new heavy weight in Caledonia arsenal, the Type 18, nicknamed by the crew as "Delete", due to it's firepower.

The new powerplant it received improved the speed capability and acceleration, making the class even more maneuverable. In addition it also gave more power to the various new equipment onboard. This new powerplant was also more silent going then previous class and it's reactor had an passive function for when they need to take the ultra silent to the next level, it could only stay in that mode on the reactors for short time periods and the class need to move at an minimum speed for it to work. During testing of the first submarines, other submarines commanders have said that they have been unable to detect her, so often she had to operate in a quite noisy mode during testing, just so they can get data on the new submarine.

Cost

The Navy and the government have classified the bill of the class, they say: "knowing what the class cost, could endanger the country safety!". But media is speculating that the class cost more than $10 billion USD, not including cost of early canceling the previous class. Some experts belive the real cost is closer to $15 billion USD, due to how fast they developed a new design and started building it, in addition to all the new home developed technology. They started building the class after all just 4 years after the previous class.

Role

The class will go directly into Caledonia's nuclear armed fleet, but this time this class can fulfill more roles then before, instead of being just a foot in a single box, it have now it's feets in several boxes. With it's improved speed capability, it can respond faster to threats and it can also match most attack submarines in speed capability, and hopefully become the hunter if there is an absolute need to.

Sir Byon class SSN

was an attack submarine in the Caledonia Navy, based on Adm. Sir Marikon class SSBN/SSGN, that replaced the submarine force speed demon and twin reactor, Cdr. chard class. The main difference between Byon and Marikon was a new sail, new type of hull sonars and remove of SLBM silo and centralization of VLS, and the overall hull length and some changes to the hull, specially the top side. The class would become the bloodhound of the navy, the abnormal high cost of building them, would limit how many was build. The class was considered as one of the most advance submarines ever build, on pair with US Seawolf class, if not better (link media). There was a lot of secrecy around the class and was only crewed by contracted crew and officers, that also had an higher level of secrecy clearance and went trough an more intense and longer training, before they was even allowed onboard.

Design

The class was an shortened version of ADM. Sir Marikon class. With a more streamlined outer hull form. It's sail was totally changed to a water-drop formed sail, with it's mast layout changed around. The class received an improved nuclear reactor with a bigger powerplant connected to it, giving it an higher speed capability. In addition to the 6 VLS-cluster aft of the sail, the class had 10 torpedo tubes with an enlarged magazine with capacity to carry more than 50 weapons. The class received also a new an improved sonars.

History

There is a lot of secrecy around the class and thus the are little to write about it, even the exact build date is unknown (officially). All that is know is the class suddenly appeard on the ship roster of the Navy. What is know of it's build process was the class was build around the same time and concealed as another Adm. Sir Marikon class, at the main Naval docks. And to confuse people taking photos when the submarine leave and enter docks, they would use a slightly smaller tugs, then what they normally use. Those few time the class appeared in media, was that time it had an onboard electrical fire and had to surface close to a country border, and thus got a lot of attention, since it did't carry any marking. And those time the submarine needed at sea service, it would receive it from unmarked civilian boats and helicopters/aircrafts.

Cost

The Navy never disclosed the cost of the class, but it was apparently extremely expensive and under hearing about why the class was so expensive, leaders of the program would rather lose their work, then say anything about the program. The only answers government officials got was, to build an advance submarine: "it cost!"

Role

The submarine would go into the submarine force and most likely part of the nuclear attack submarine force, but the navy never disclosed what the tru work role of the class, only what could be seen.
