Yeah; side view may mislead on these... I'm only referring to Finnish Tuuli class, which was planned to carry 4 RBS-15 missiles...

Tuuli would had also Ukmonto missiles.

Late 1980's design for a domestic light frigate:

Size is similar with real life South Korean Ulsan Class, but with lighter displacement and armament. I borrowed underwater hull from Ulsan drawing.

Dimensions : 102.7m X 12.0 m X 3.8m
Propulsion : CODOG, 2 X MTU 12V656TB81 (5640 hp) + 2 X Rolls Royce Spey SM1A (37,540 hp)
Speed : 32 kn max

Armament (as built)

1 X 76mm OTO Melara 76/62 Combatto
2 X 2 X 35mm Oerlikon GDM-A
2 X 14.5mm Y1965 HMG
8 X HSSM-2 Turbo Exocet anti-ship missiles
2 X 3 Mk32 torpedo tubes
1 X ARIS VI missile CIWS (16 missiles)

And a smaller hybrid corvette-special operations vessel from the same era:

Sea has a 12m X 4m space under helipad for USV, inflatables or various special operation craft with ramb and rollers.

Dimensions : 86.2 m X 10.25 m X 3m
Propulsion : CODOG, 2 X MTU diesel + 1 Rolls Royce Spey SM1A
Speed : 30 kn max

1 X 76mm OTO Melara 76/62 Combatto
2 X 2 X 35mm Oerlikon GDM-A
2 X 14.5mm Y1965 HMG
4 X HSSM-2 Turbo Exocet anti-ship missiles
1 X SADRAL (6 Mistral missiles)
2 X ARIS VII missile launchers (boxes for Hellfire or Mokopa missiles can be fitted)

For many years only Hellenic research station in Antarctica was a small wooden hut in Newman Island built in 1943-44 expedition plus a Hellenic section in some Denton/Salide research stations. After two decades of experiments with photovoltaic cells, wind turbines and cold insulated constructions in various areas of Antarctica under severe weather conditions Hellas was ready for building own no-emission research station. Last construction was a scaled version of planned station for testing. Experience gained found its way to domestic constructions in cold mountainous areas of Kingdom as well. For that large task an ice breaking freighter was needed, which would be also used for supplying other stations as well under United Antarctic Program. After a market research in late 1990's to early 2000's a sister ship of Chinese MV Xue Long was found in Ukraine. She was offered in very good price, but needed refit. For purchase and refit HCPR acquired state funding. The ship was named Hercules ("Ηρακλής") and unlike Xue Long does not have research capabilities. She was used for two years for supplying other stations and from 2005 Hercules tasked to transporting building material to Antarctica for the Hellenic research station. Although similar with Belgian Research Station Princess Elizabeth, station Evstratii Delarov II is an all round station. Station was ready in 2010, because building proceeded only in Antarctic summer.

Station named from Evstratii Delarov (1740 – 1806)

That blue really matched her lines.

See also in previous page the history and new version of IB Pytheas.

In early 2000's HCRP evaluated some IB designs to replace the old Pytheas, ideal choice was a multi-task ship with both ice-breaking, research and supply capabilities as old IB was, but much larger, at least similar with South African Agulhas II in size and capable of taking containers as well. Only in 2015-2016 HCPR had raised enough money for ordering the new ship and the winner was RPM Shipyard design. However, RPM went bankrupt at early stage of construction. The research center had money left from various programs funding by Hellenic State and gave them to one of many shipyards in Elefsina Bay known for many difficult maritime constructions to create a back-up design in parallel with RPM design. This shipyard despite its considerable experience had never built an ice breaker before, simply because such a ship is not necessary for Med (except Ice Age returns!). They looked several other ships for inspiration (e.g Almirante Irizar, the Endurance, the Japanese Shirase (5003) plus the original blueprints of old IB Pytheas which were given with the ship from UK.

The result was a ship more close to Shirase in size with an A-frame at stern for launching ROVs. Azimuth pods would be used for keeping position (although not visible in drawing below because I have not fitted them) and propulsion is quadruple diesel with at least 32,000 hp total. Same shipyard did the rebuilt of IB Hercules above. The ship below will remain a proposal unless RPM does deliver the unfinished ship to Hellas for continued construction. Finally in 2019 HCPR managed to gain most of money given to RPM and fund the domestic IB. Only about 1/3 of tolal sum fortunately given to RPM and refund was about 70% of that. Finished ship did cost more and rest money came from Hellenic Natural Resources Fund, which also increased its share to HCPR to 38% from 20%.

On drawing itself underwater hull is borrowed from Almirante Irizar by Laser_one - which has 9.5m draught, more than Shirase which has 9.2m both according to Wikipedia- and bridge from A171 Endurance (1991).
