San Sadara class cruiser

[ img ]

The design for the San Sadara class existed in the need for a modern fleet destroyer capable of using the SPATHI weapon system, the evolution of the Scylus weapon system - some 20 years in the making. While the old systems were adequate, there was a lack of dedicated fleet escorts that hadn't begun to show age at the turn of the 15th century. Compared to warships 20 years earlier, San Sadara was significantly less specialized towards a single role to solidify her place as an escort ship. As the class was less specialized and meant to be built in numbers, a loss of a single vessel during battle would not hurt the effectiveness of the battle group to a major degree.

Mizuri class heavy cruiser

[ img ]

The Mizuri class was the second group of 'large heavy cruisers' to be ordered by the Imperial Osoran Navy, which where meant to one-up Wesmere and Antaran treaty cruisers. A key difference from the last class was additional weight saving measures, such as lowering the quarterdeck and moving the aircraft handling facilities aft, an idea taken from Libeccian cruisers. These weight saving measures were there to reduce the cost of each vessel.

Mizuri retained many of the previous features including the five twin main battery layout, except now the #3 turret was aimed forward and swapped places with the #2 mount, now superfiring. The additional weight saving allowed the main belt armor to be increased to 120mm (up from 100mm) as well as an increase to the deck armor, now at 45mm. Mizuri had a maximum speed of 34 knots but was known to be able to push her engines to 35 knots in an emergency.

One of the most famous cruisers belonged to Mizuri class, Kyushi, saw action as early as 1332 during the Osora-Zang War, albeit in only a minor role. Kyushi saw more action from 1337 during the Osora-Hang War and engaged with the Hang Navy. In 1341, a year before the World War, Kyushi became the flagship of Vice Admiral Hideo Ashikaga's 4th Fleet (known mostly as the South-Eastern fleet). Ashikaga became the Navy's most famous admiral, and by extention his legendary flagship. Known for his upfront and hands-on approach to warfare, Ashikaga made a name for himself through his actions in the heat of battle. When the Empire went to war with the Antarans in 1342, Ashikaga's 4th Fleet commenced operations on the South Far East and battled Wesmere's Orienta Fleet and weakened Antaran patrols. Ashikaga cut a swift path through the region, assisting the landings of Antaran Zhentou, engaging patrol and motor boats from the Antarans, fighting off raids from Wesmeric destroyer groups, and the Battle of Baomae.

With the Western nations temporarily driven from the region, Ashikaga's 4th Fleet turned their attention to the smaller Ta'kanengan and Bahatian navies. While the Army made landings at Dhaveepi and New Olvis, the Navy fended off any attempt at retaliation, often headed by Kyushi herself, no matter how small the threat. In 1343, the Antarans received reinforcements made an effort to defend Matu Islands region in hopes that Osora could be prevented from establishing bases that would allow for an invasion of New Orienta. In late April, Ashikaga was promoted to admiral and he moved flagship to the carrier Kuzuryū, turning her into a legend too, however Kyushi herself remained with the 4th Fleet tasked with escorting Osoran carrier groups in the Matu Islands. Kyushi would not see significant action until May of the following year - when the Antarans once again made a concerted effort to battle Osora for the Matu Islands. Kyushi saw major action in May, including both battles of Balara, the hellish second battle being her last.

Displacement - 12000 tonnes normal
Speed - 34 knots
Range - 8000nm at 14 knots
Armor - 120mm main belt, 75mm turret face, 50mm decks
Main battery - 5xII 228mm/45
Secondary battery - 4xII 120/45
Torpedoes - 2xIII

V-78 class fleet submarine

The V-78s were a small series of 'small displacement fleet boats' built in 1339. Compared to previous fleet submarines, the V-78s were built to displacement significantly less tonnage. It was hoped the cheaper cost and ease of construction would allow it to be massed produced in the event of a war. Combined with the advancements in engine design and a slimmer profile, the V-78s boasted a faster surface and underwater speed, all the while increasing total torpedo armament. An important factor to the fleet submarine doctrine was its range that allowed it to operate in both Sieg and Osoran waters - V-78 maintained its 11 000nm range.

[ img ]
V-81 holds the most number of battle stars for a submarine and is one of the most decorated warships in the navy. Despite its mandate to hunt merchants and transport ships, V-78 had sank four destroyers and a cruiser, and landed hits on other warships which were unconfirmed to have sank. On the other hand V-81 had a below average merchant/transport tonnage sunk.

[ img ]
V-80 during the Battle of Tuscadia, before setting off on a sortie from Port Isla. Like V-81, V80's skipper (Captain J.T. Lee) had chosen to mount two deck guns rather than the single stern mount as built. Skippers preferred to conserve their torpedoes for more dangerous targets, unironically though Antaran submariners were known to remove a torpedo reload or two for additional 100mm rounds which would be replenished after an engagement. It was a common joke at the time that skippers had terrible aim as a result.

Displacement - 1600 tonnes surfaced
Speed - 21 knots surfaced
Range - 11 000nm at 10 knots
Test depth - 80 meters
Actual depth - +- 130 meters
Torpedo armament - 6 forward, 4 aft, 24 torpedoes
Deck armament - 1xI 100mm/50 Mk34 WM*
Air defense - 1xI 25mm Mk38 WM*

*As built only. Armament varied by boat.

Ships in class:

V-78 - lost, 1344
V-79 - sunk by air attack, 1344
V-80 - scrapped, 1349
V-81 - scrapped, 1349
V-82 - lost, 1345
V-83 - scuttled, 1346

Uzura class destroyer

[ img ]

The Uzura's were the successor of the budget constrained Nitaris, with improvements in main battery firepower with the addition of a single mount to bring her more in line with contempary ships of the time. Her torpedo layout was revised with two quads and reloads for only one launcher. This brought her weight and cost down. Uzura boasted a much increased speed which required her to be larger once again as a result.

Glad you like them :D

With regards to rafts, these boats follow Japanese design language and I don't remember them having rafts. With the boats.. I don't see why not.

Iris class heavy cruiser

[ img ]

Originally conceived to be small and quick war-emergancy cruisers in 1342, the Shilohs evolved in size and capability as the navy recognised the increased wartime efficiency of the nation's shipyards. CH-8, the official name of the class, was a very rushed design that on the outside has a rather distinctive profile, but was equal in capability to the navy's previous Iris class cruisers, including: its size, armor and main battery layout. CH-8 did have some advancements however, such as the copying of her light cruiser cousins' hullform, sporting a flush deck and hanger bay in the stern. Much like the Jericho class, Shiloh ended up being even more top heavy due to the weight of her gun mounts and tall superstructure, as well as superfiring secondary battery.

The first group of Shiloh class cruisers were commissioned right into battle in the Scyllic Ocean where, with the lead vessel as well as Ardenton being lost the same year. In both sinkings no survivors were recovered so their accomplishments are unknown, except for hearsay by other ship crews. Edopolis to Summerwood were commissioned into the Freyatic Fleet and fought the Siegsmarine. They were transferred to the Scyllic Fleet to suppliment the losses the navy had incurred in 1345 and remained there. The final group of Shilohs were commissioned in 1345 into the Freyatic Fleet and served primarily as carrier escorts and the rare naval bombardment.

Decades after the war, some vessels were selected for missile conversion and continued to serve in the navy until the 70s, while others deemed unfit for refit were scrapped or disposed of at the end of the war or some time after it.
