Hello, and welcome to the shipbucket thread for the Kerbin In Jeopardy RP!

Kerbin in Jeopardy is a nationstates RP set on the planet of Kerbin, where multiple people control nations with unique and vibrant histories, governments, and people.

MAP

Without further ado, I present to you the first shipbucket drawings to spring forth from this world:

Eusonian Thunder-class Destroyer
Built before and during the Great War, the Thunder class formed the backbone of the Federation's fleet during the war. Just over thirty of the vessels would be built, and they would go on to serve for decades in the service of several different nations. While the Eusonian Federation retired their Thunders shortly before their collapse, four of the vessels continue to see service with the neighboring Blessed Principality of Edusa as the Ekania-class, and saw service in their recent civil war.

Credit where credit is due:

Thanks to Gollevainen for his Grom-class drawing, which served as the basis for the Thunder-class.

Apologies if I'm missing anything, this is my first post here, let me know and I'll fix it.

Another one, although this one not by me:
(the author does not have an account here, and gave me permission to post it instead)

Edusan Marrazo-class Coastal Patrol Vessel
Built to replace Great War-era patrol boats, the Marrazos are general-purpose vessels used for everything from antisubmarine warfare to customs enforcement. Despite the program being initiated in the late 1970s, the program would not produce any vessels until 1993, as its development was hampered by budget cuts, contractor changes, and the death of the project's lead engineer. Ultimately, the program did create a successful and versatile design, able to be fitted with a variety of ordinance and equipment. The pictured vessel is outfitted for surface warfare, with 3" and 40mm guns fore and Mk.140 launchers for Harpoon missiles aft. The Marrazo-class is well liked by the sailors that serve aboard them, and saw widespread use during the recent Edusan civil war.

Thank you! I've got another one, this one grounded in reality:

Kerthenian Republic-class Flight Deck Cruiser
Converted from Hartford-class cruisers that were under construction, the Republics and their unique design were a result of the Naval Modernization Program (NMP). The NMP was a radical initiative, beginning after the destruction of the Kerthenian fleet at the Siege of North Point, as the Kerthenians found themselves suddenly thrust into the war against a numerically superior foe. An attempt to gain a technological edge over the Yinshanese fleet, the NMP produced a number of radical designs. While some were quite successful, the three ships of the Republic class were decidedly not so. Lacking the armor or firepower of the cruisers they were converted from, or a large enough flight deck or hangar to become the carriers they sought to be, the Republics were stuck in an awkward middle ground where they could fill both roles poorly, but neither role well. The ships did eventually find a niche supporting amphibious operations, as they were able to provide both gunfire support and air cover to attacking marines.

This concept is based on an early, early design of the American Flight Deck Cruiser (CF), specifically the image below; however, I took quite a few liberties with it, as the ship in the drawing does not appear to obey the laws of euclidean geometry.

This next ship is also (mostly) Kerthenian, but a bit more modern:

Kerthenian Trevelyan-class Strategic Reconnaissance Ship
A joint Kerthenian-Qusmosi design, the Trevelyan-Class strategic reconnaissance ship is the result of the SR-X project, a joint black project resulting from the cancelled Kerthenian inquiry into purchasing Qusmosi Fallriver-Class electronic intelligence ships. Instead, the two nations decided to build a ship with basic concept of the Fallriver but in a more streamlined and deliberate package. The resulting Trevelyan is a perfect predator of an unconventional kind, a ship designed to leverage radar, thermal, and acoustic stealth to lie in wait, undetected, for months at a time, tracking and hunting information rather than enemy forces. Highly automated, the ship's small crew are tasked with operating not only the stealthiest ships ever made, but also one of the most sophisticated information-gathering platforms ever to sail the seas of Kerbin. In the interest of stealth, a conventional bridge has been entirely passed over in favor of a 360°, high resolution, stereoscopic camera system feeding real time data to the ship's CIC. Additionally, its extreme stealth characteristics make it a perfect platform for its secondary mission, the covert transport and insertion of personnel for both Kerthenian and Qusmosi intelligence services and special operations forces. To this end, the ship features a small well deck, a helipad, and a helicopter hangar.

And now for Kerbin's first individual ship. Sorry that it's just an alteration of the Trevelyan-class that minepagan made with me but this is the lead ship of the class, the KCRN Trevelyan (SR-1) herself.

In a move that has drawn the ridicule of her core crew of a minuscule thirty-six, the ship's motto is "Always Watchful", an ironic mantra for a ship that almost entirely lacks windows or portholes of any kind. Commissioned in December 2018, the ship's extended shakedown cruise has rapidly become her first operational mission after the outbreak of an ongoing war with Keitels Ostreich and aligned powers in June 2019. However, the ship and her class have become the topic of contention among some KCRN admirals as questions have been raised about the degree of control the KCRN will actually have over the secretive class of ships, as the lead ship has been effectively commandeered for Intelligence Support Directorate missions and JSOC team deployments.

Obviously credit to minepagan for the Trevelyan-class, and his post contains credit for all associated components.
Credit to Radome for the crest of the USS Mount Whitney, the ship's crest I based the Trevelyan's off of. This can be found here. viewtopic.php?f=22&t=2278#p41913

Kind of forgot that this thread existed, how about getting back into the swing of things with a fixed Trevelyan?

Still can't exactly be considered things like "sane" or "competent" or "worthwhile", but at least now words like "possible" are applicable. It no longer has the redundant (and too large) 155mm AGS fore or Standard-series missiles that it lacks the capability to actually fire.

As for some new content:

Eusonian Mako-class Corvette
First designed as part of a whole line of modular escort ships in the late 1970s, the McLees Shipyard "Adaptable Hull Escort" was ultimately passed over by the Federation Navy. The Coast Guard expressed interest in the design as a long-endurance patrol vessel, however, and in 1980 the first Mako was laid down. Smaller and less well armed than the original concept, the Mako class is nominally armed with a 3" gun fore, two 37mm CIWS turrets, and a pair of Mk140 lightweight missile launchers, capable of firing either RGM-84 Harpoon or RGM-91 Firebrand (Vought ALVRJ) anti-ship missiles. Just aft of the superstructure is a collapsible hangar and a small helipad, flanked by two torpedo launchers, and just large enough to fit a single HUH14K-3 Sunbird (H-43 Huskie) helicopter. During peacetime the ships are rarely seen with a full weapons load, often having the Mk140 launchers and aft CIWS turret removed in favor of a spacious small boat handling area. Six ships of the class were built for the Eusonian Coast Guard, all of which are still in service. Another six of a similar design have been ordered by the Edusan Itsaso Armada, two of which have been delivered. A third was scheduled to have been delivered at the same time, but was bombed by a terrorist while under a construction. The Edusan ships are slightly larger, have a permanent hangar, and incorporate stealth characteristics in their design.

A big thanks to MConrads for their Espora-class drawing, which can be found here: http://www.shipbucket.com/drawings/1251
and to eric_t's Vigilante-derived CIWS I shamelessly stole, which I got from here: http://shipbucket.com/wiki/index.php/US ... iser_Refit

It's not a necropost if you add new content, right?

[ img ]
The Maelstrom-class destroyers emphasized anti-aircraft firepower more than perhaps any other warship of this type, and their design incorporated a number of new technologies. Twin auto-loading 90mm guns, sextuple torpedo launchers, depth charge launchers, and a cornucopia of 40mm and 20mm anti-aircraft guns were more than enough to get the job done, and these ships continued to serve their country far after the end of the Great War.

OOC: I wanted to be able to use images of the ROCN's incredibly cursed Gearing upgrades, and so decided to make a destroyer class visually similar to the USS Carpenter, a Gearing-class destroyer completed to a modified design that featured, among other things, the rare 3"/70 Mark 26 gun.

[ img ]
The Wahoo-class of light cruisers were a follow-on to the disastrous failures that were Chevalier-class ships. With improved sea-keeping, reinforced armament, thicker armor, and more competent shipyard management, the Wahoos proved to be a capable cruiser for the Federation Navy. Ten would be completed over the course of the Great War, serving with distinction throughout the conflict.

OOC: I've always liked the asthetics of the American 8" treaty cruisers, so I decided to style the Eusonian vessels off of them. The Wahoo is specifically based on the Northampton class, with a modified hull and (obviously) four smaller triple 6" turrets as opposed to the original's three triple 8" turrets. If the date concerns you, don't worry, the years are slightly different and 1932 in this setting is roughly equivalent to 1944 in real life. Don't ask me why, it was established before I was involved.

[ img ]
The Choctaw-class of heavy cruisers were based on the design of the preceding Wahoo-class. The design features a larger hull to accommodate a 203mm main armament, as well as a host of small improvements such as an enclosed bridge and relocated aviation facilities. Only four were completed over the course of the war, with the first entering service in 1932.

OOC: Same general motivation as the above, though obviously a heavy cruiser rather than a light cruiser. The Wahoo's design is also inspired by the New Orleans class, especially with its distinctive hangar setup.

[ img ]
The Mobile-class of battleships were the only vessels of the type ever constructed in Eusonia, though they were designed with the assistance of Kerthenian engineers. They are also the smallest (by length) to carry 406mm guns, as they were designed to fit within the somewhat cramped drydocks of the Sgaoileadh Naval Yard in Sertheish. This necessitated a lower top speed than contemporary designs, but no expense was spared when it came to the armor protection, anti-aircraft firepower, or sensor suite. Unusually for a battleship, the design of the Mobile-class included a below-deck hangar in the vessel's stern capable of holding three aircraft.

The Mobile is shown here after a refit that replaced her after turret with twin Mk10 Terrier launchers. The ship's secondary battery was also modernized, with each twin 5"/38 turret being replaced by a 76mm Allargato gun of Serrian manufacture. Each side is controlled by a manual slewing sight mounted in the superstructure, with twin radar antennas creating a return for the turrets to lock on to for precision aiming. Trials proved the system to be surprisingly effective against simulated missile targets, and it is argued by some armchair historians that the Mobile had the world's first gun-based close in weapons system.

OOC: Heh, heh. This is a shitbash through-and-through, deliberately cursed and with a few intentional (and unintentional, I'm sure) design flaws to exacerbate the effect. I've always maintained that the South Dakotas were the best treaty battleships, as far as both performance and appearance is concerned, and decided to see how far I could stretch the design. I probably went too far.

[ img ]
The North Point-class of aircraft carriers commenced construction shortly after Kerthenia was dragged into the Great War by a Yinshanese attack. A product of the Naval Modernization Program, an initiative to facilitate tactical and technological innovation in a gambit to overcome the significant numerical disadvantage that the KCRN enjoyed at the start of the war, no two ships of the first batch were identical. KCRN Indomitable was the first of the standardized North Points, and as such she came equipped with the most successful of the features trialed on her predecessors. These included bow catapults, a deck-edge elevator, and a conspicuous angled landing deck that allowed her to operate larger aircraft.

OOC: Do it again and again, Colonel Doolittle. An Essex-class capable of operating B-25s thanks to out-of-universe hand-waving and in-universe happenstance. I was too busy trying to figure out if I could, to stop and wonder if I should. Oh and there's an AEW version of dubious feasibility just to rub it in.
