in a timeline where a coup d'etat overthrough the nationalist factions in japan and the new government now asserted control over the military japan rose as a new asian superpower the nationalist factions are handed to asian countries who cimmited crimes against them to be trialed and executed by them the japanese empire is abandoned but japan kept the throphy karafuto (southern sakhalin) as extra territory and the reminant of the imperial russian failuer the coup d'etat started in late 1939 and ended in early 1940 us japan relations are restored in 1941 japan convinced the us to declare war on nazi germany to secure european peace the war ended in 1945 (same as always) from here on out history plays out the same but with minor changes in 1947 the chinese civil war played out the same but in 1950 the korean war ended with a stalemate but the south got 75% of the korean peninsula while the north got the small 25% of the korean peninsula in the 1960's the vietnam war plays out different as japan was the one that intervened to save the south with the us as support with the goal of liberating the nation from communist influance and bring stability while giving china the buffer zone they needed frome here on out everything plays out the same

the yamato got extensive upgrades such as replacing the engine for a 200 thousand shaft horsepower one and giving the ship's main guns were given advanced auto loaders giving a rate of fire of 3 rounds per minute the old type 98 10cm guns are given an upgrade utilizing the mark 42 loading mechanism and with fire control radar dome's the type 3 15.5cm guns are also given an upgrade by utilizing the 203mm mark 71 mclwg mounts auto loader the ships aa is complimented by the mauser mk-30 30mm guns as these replaced the old outdated and useless 25mm type 96 and with the 30mm goalkeeper ciws each one of the four goalkeepers controls one sector of the 30mm mauser guns deviding into four areas where the guns are remotely controlled by one of the 30mm goalkeeper's the mark 41 vls and mark 57 pvls is installed as armor was formed around them to protect the ship incase they are hit and exploded their installation had to allocate much of space on the ship's inner decks the radar system have similar radars used in 1980s japanese destroyers but the ship has a new magnetic radar the magnetic radar is designed to detect any communication device's magent's magnetic field to render stealth useless the bulbous bow is given a sonar for submarine detection and for added agility two bow thrusters are installed to be used for manuvering allowing the ship to turn fast and manuverability like a super carrier these upgrades made the yamato an advanced armament battleship hence (aabb) allowing 999 crewmembers to oprate it due to automation

the 2 36 cell pvls is located in the fantail just 1 meter from the 3rd turret gun barrels the vls is shock hardened to withstand the overpressure from the guns

this ship is inspired by a japanese youtuber

his channel

https://m.youtube.com/@pengui_in/videos

the videos

it's mast may have evolved in the videos but i settled on the final version of the ship also the videos will show the ships top view to see the vls placement just watch them through the end or what ever you chose

Definitely a neat concept, but I have some nitpicks:
1. The light AAA fit is critically outdated by this point and would have been removed in a refit at some point since the end of WW2, as it is incapable of downing most modern aircraft and missiles. Even if you did replace them with 30mm Mauser guns, if they are still locally controlled and reliant on the gunners themselves to make the firing solutions they will be borderline useless against modern aircraft and munitions.
2. Did you research the deck penetration of the VLS systems you plan to fit and if you have enough space to cram them in where you say they are? You have a total of 328 missile cells to fit onto your decks, even the Iowas didn't use VLS systems due to space constraints, let alone VLS systems this big.
3. You say the 18-inch battery received autoloaders? What exactly is the nature of this autoloading system and would it fit within the constraints of the turret? Keep in mind these guns are most likely cradled individually and each barrel would require it's own autoloader. These systems are both expensive and take up a lot of room. Furthermore, a rate of fire of 15 rounds per minute on a weapon of this size is unheard of and you'd have to do some serious explanation to make it believable.
4. I'm not going to comment on electronics, radars, and directors other than reminding you to make sure you have the proper systems installed and have enough of them. Those VLS cells will require extensive director systems, the main and secondary batteries still need directors, as well as both air and surface search systems and a 3D system. Also, fitting sonar to detect submarines but no ASW torpedoes seems impractical unless you plan to depend entirely on your helicopters for ASW work. Most modern guided missile cruisers, whose function would be the most analogous to your ship here, are fitted with ASW weapons of their own.

If any of my assumptions or critiques are wrong please let me know, I'm not an expert by any means. Cheers and keep up the good work!

you can also forget the bow thrusters.
This type of ship will always need help from tugs.
The bow thrusters are far to small.
The beam of the hull in that area is massive, you want the funnel the thruster are in, as short as possible, that's why a bow thruster are mounted at the bow, or in the aft end of the keel, and not at the center of the hull.

We always place missiles above the drawing, in the same area of where the VLS is.

For VLS space. Even for the Iowas many conversion suggestions, they always ended up with removing a main turret and place a VLS there. cutting into decks and armored decks to give space for a VLS, will compromise the ship armor layoute
