Welcome everybody, as it is my first post here!

After a bit of lurking, I finally decided to try and draw a ship to the bucket's format.
I chose a design of one of my ships from Rule the Waves game link with my mod that added Polish-Lithuanian-Cossack Commonwealth (PLK Commonwealth for short :D )

This mod assumes that Poland survived end of XVIII century through Kosciuszko's miraculous victory over Russians in 1792. Later PLKC took part in Napoleonic Wars, at first on Napoleon's side (taking what was lost in Ist partition to Austria and majority of Livonia from Russia), and then on Coalition's side, getting it's share of spoils (french colony of Trinidad). Near the end of XIXth century PLKC decided to support kingdom of Madagascar against French, resulting in Madagascar becoming protectorate and fifth part of the Commonwealth.

Ok, enough of backstory. ORP Mazowsze, you see below is a member of 3 ship Inflanty-class (OORP Inflanty, Mazowsze, Litwa). Ships were constructed 1898-1900 in yards in Ventspils, Riga and Gdansk with the help of UK naval architects. All three served with distinction in French war (1901)and Long War (against Austria-Hungary 1904-6) during which ORP Mazowsze became famous for her forays into Adriatic, one of which resulted in Battle of Cape Rodon (14/15 I 1906) where in chaotic night-time engagement she was pitched against squadron of 2 battleships, 3 cruisers and 6 TBDs. Of those, she managed to sink 5 TBDs and damage 2 cruisers, coming back to friendly bases in German Tunisia with only minor damage. Soon after that, in 1907 with first battlecruisers arriving from Vickers shipyards, class was relegated to second line duties and served in such roles in Ist War of Franco-Russian Aliance (1910-14) rarely operating outside Gulf of Riga. After the war, they were left mothballed until 1917, when Inflanty and Litwa were scrapped and Mazowsze became museum ship, permanently anchored in Gdansk.

Is the format ok for ShipBucket guidelines?
I used some of the parts sheets (UK boats, four inch guns etc) and was drawing it using Bombhead's HMS Aboukir cruiser as template for underwater hull (as Cressy-class is the closest in displacement to my ship), I also used part of his secondary casamates.
How should I properly credit him? With &: '(Archelaos & Bombhead)', with '\' or maybe '(Archelaos) (with parts from Bombhead)'?

If you have any comments to ship's design, I'd love to read them!

Edit: stats should be in spoiler tags, but it seem to not work

Welcome Aboard!

Awesome start, its nice design

Some tips though:

-regarding crediting, if you used anything more than a part the original artist is credited, if you used any part in the final drawing it warrants a credit

-might be worth using a Medium2 template instead of a Small2

-With the funnels that close together it suggests tiny boiler spaces, maybe the middle funnel could be wider to take the exhaust from central boiler spaces. Alternatively you could go with 2/3 larger funnels in total or slight more separation, that's more aesthetic than anything as some ships of the period had similar groupings but usually had narrower funnels so the gap between them was more pronounced.

All in all, great work and look forwards to seeing more

Thanks!

I have to admit that I used wide funnels as due to their looks. I prefer them over narrow ones that were used in the time period. I may try to move them to fill all available space between masts and check how it looks.

I decided to use S2 as it is technicaly smallest that fits :D Though I agree that switch to M2 would probably be beneficial. I'll replace that and add credits when I have some time.

For adding credit where credit is due - make the time to do so.

For the funnels, if you like the wider funnels reduce number to three and spread them out. your ship will retain its looks.

Sorry for being imprecise, I do plan to update the image with credits (after all I credited the autor in a post below image), only that has to wait till weekend, when I'll have time to do it.

Thanks for suggestion, I'll try three funnels!

Crediting is a very serious thing here, if someone notices that you have credited incorrectly you must resolve the credit issue immediately.

Ok, crediting done!

I also placed ship on M2 template, though I had to recreate it. A downloaded file was throwing error when I tried to open it in Gimp, and was ten times bigger than S2. Similar problem was with L2 template.
