Admiral Are Fjerstad Class Aviso

I started this for the London Treaty Gunboat Challenge but didn't feel like it was good enough to submit, but I've since gone back and gotten it to a post-able point.

Obviously, comments and constructive criticism are appreciated.

Cheers!

Very nice gunboat,
my only thoughts are if you could raise the stern 5" up a deck to clear the stern for ASW/mining or fit 4 guns?

I would then have the 1.1" AA guns moved to beside the funnel?

I would anyway move the .5MGs (especially the rear 4 guns) as they need sky arcs to be useful AA as at this date they are not just anti small boat guns like now but also realistic AA guns (or at least considered such pre WWII)?

I also question your deck 0 and 3" belt, I think simply splinter protection and then something 1"-2" caps over Mags is all you would have?

I've taken your comments into account and made the necessary modifications.

Also, I've completed a drawing of the second vessel of the class ENS Andre Aasen.

She is depicted as scuttled during the Battle of Kulsite, November 19th 1941.

Enjoy!

ENS Nils Hegna

[ img ]

This is the third and final vessel of the Are Fjerstad Class, ENS Nils Hegna. Immediately it's obvious that a major change in the design has been made by this point. Following the beginning of the Second Achosian War in late 1939, it became plain to the Ebrelan Federal Navy that a major rethinking of their naval doctrine and building programs was needed. The third vessel of the Fjerstad Class was modified when 45% completed to focus more heavily on convoy escort capabilities, ditching the three 5"/38 guns in favor of a pair of twin 4" DP mounts and additional AAA armament. This vessel, ENS Nils Hegna, would be the final ship of the class, with other more specialized vessels replacing the four remaining vessels of the class in the EFN's build queue. Hegna would serve initially with the 8th Escort Squadron, but would be reassigned to the 1st Escort Squadron in late 1944. During a storm in early 1945, she went missing and was presumed sunk by a rogue wave. No wreckage or debris was ever found and all hands were lost.

That's it for this series. More to come.
