I feel if the US Navy still built reasonable ships they would look alot like what the Korean's build.

No. Not by a long shot. It's just a marinised Surion. Which is somewhat distantly related to the Puma family. However, the new helicopter that the RoKN has selected for its frigates / destroyers is the AW159 though.
