Looking better!

Next up would be either hull shading as Colo shows here, or fixing the above water and superstructure shading. I'd fix the underwater hull first, as you won't be fixing other details below it.

I do salute you for starting on such a complex ship.

I'd look at ships from the same era in the archive (CB-1, CA-134, CL-144) and use them for inspiration as to hull detail and shading. I'll also start digging around for a shot of the twin 5"/54 mounts you'll need.
