Morning all! Or evening... Depends on your time zone.

I'll get straight to it. I'm in the process of working on a AU Finland (Suomus). Right now, I decided to work on the Navy, my
first being a Destroyer based off the German DKM Z-51. The bottom was finished just the way I needed, then I looked at other designs
from various axis factions to get parts (Engine, armament, bridges etc.); The main problem with this was scale. I'm actually working on
the same scale as on here but can't seem to get it right. The blueprints I work off are all in different sizes and quality, the second problem
is finding good source materials with the same size.

What I'm asking for is if someone can show me how to measure in the scale of this site, share some useful sources or just lend a hand.
I'll post the designs here so you can what I'm working on.

If an reference drawing is in a different scale, the you can either draw freehand, and look at you'r reference at the same time, or you can re-size you'r reference drawing.

Shipbucket scale is 2 pixels to 1 foot.

Nice to read:

But I can give you two Destroyer drawing for you'r AU.

Aalesund class, only the hulls of both ship was finish build before invasion of Norway:

Germany planed to do this, with those ships... but they was sabotaged:

Thanks! These will come in handy a lot.

I'm still getting the hang of resizing everything, plus it's even harder when the best images are micro scale...
I guess it all comes down to practice and interest.

First of all, welcome to the forum! You are already off to a good start with the hull. I suggest that you leave the railings until the end after you've finished the superstructure and turrets, etc.

Thanks, good to know I'm doing okay.

From what I've gathered this ship equals to a total of 47740 pixels, then 2 pixels per foot so would I divide this
total number by 2 or times it by 2. The total number after division come to just above 20 foot. Before, it was 41.

To scale ships, use the real ship's length in feet. According to Wiki, the Z51 model was 375 feet long, so using the 2 pixel per foot scale, this ship would be 750 pixels long.

Welcome Odin,

the hull looks very good. For Germanic colours, Garlic Designs palate that he uses for the real life ships is excellent.

For resizing at present your hull is 681 pixels (340.5 feet) while according to my book Z51 is 374 feet (748 pixels).

To work out the resizing necessary for your drawing the original drawing you are working off is 1310 pixels. Dividing your desired size (748) by (1310) gives an answer of 0.57. You need to resize the original drawing at 57% which will get you very close. You may have to add or subtract 1 or 2 pixels to get the hull size exact.

Have fun!

Thanks!

Should have mentioned this before. I know how to decrease an image to the size I need now but how
do I increase it to the preferred scale...?
