I followed the previous Ukranian AU and this. Both are too extreme indeed, but wonderful as work. All ships of Rurik-2 are masterpieces as drawings.

While I can't speak for Rurik-2, I guess that the most logical answer would be "because it's fun" (and that fun results in large number of excellent artworks in this thread and several others before). ;)

Range: 14 400 m at 15 kts. Bunker 6200 t.
Armour:
Belts: 102 mm, traverse 127 mm.
Torpedo bulkheadheads: 38 mm.
Armoured decks: 51 mm.
Gun armour: 20/10 mm, barbette 20 mm.
2nd gun armour: 10 mm.
Conning towers: 152/102 mm.
