A carrier borne Whirlwind is an interesting prospect to say the least. Would you be keeping the RR Peregrines or substituting them for something more mature/better for higher altitude work?

The Whirlwind has always been one of my favourite aircraft, too bad I didn't see som much service.

Havn't tought so far...but that would be tastefull. I am not so good at engines but I imagine merlins would be to big/ heavy? Or maybe Volvo Flygmotor could do their magic as they did with the IRL Twin Wasp for the J22's. I think the Whirlwind would be great for longrange interception and as an escort for torpedo and divebombers. They can also do some limted antishipping work aganist smaller ships.

I think you can add torpedoes at the Whirlwinds.

It's bomb payload was just about 500kg so I doubt a torpedo would be plausable....but intresting. I would like rockets, but could it be fitted on the fuselage?

Very nice Monitors, simple ships but drawn very nicely. Those FD Scale fighters are just awesome, nice to see the Gloster and Whirlwind finally getting into FD scale too. A carrier-based Whirlwind would be tricky but ideal for bigger-carriers as a fighter-bomber.

There was a proposal by Westland for a Merlin powered variant so I don't see why not though they are indeed heavier and slightly larger than the Peregrine.

A little teaser....the RSwN cold war carrier borne fighters...
The A32H "Lansen" with the powerfull Rb04 ASM and the J 36 SeaVixen. The Skyraider, Crusader, Hawker Fury and SAAB Viggen will follow and som AEW and ASW aircraft

Note that the Swedish SeaVixens´ has a full canopy for both pilot and RO.
