"White 11" was flown on 1 January 1945 during Operation Bodenplatte; the Luftwaffe's futile attempt to gain air superiority during the Battle of the Bulge. The operation came undone due to the shortage of experienced pilots and poor execution. White 11's pilot was nineteen year old Gefreiter Walter Wagner of 5 Staffel, Jagdgeschwader 4 who made a forced landing south of the St. Trond Airfield in Belgium after sustaining heavy flak damage. This was his third and final sortie of the war. White 11 would be taken, repaired, and inspected by the 404th Fighter Group, United States Army Air Force.
