Hi this is one of my first designs, I did it in macdraft so if anyone could tell me the actual program that your supposed to do it in i would be grateful.

Its designed with a hydro foil to increase speed on calmer days but I think phisics wise it would have have it collapsed to fire the main gun and the harpoons.

(I know my spelling is really bad in this sorry)

Speed: 30 knots (without hydro foil deployed) 35+knots (with hydro foil deployed)
Complement: 10+ 5 royal marines fully armed
Armament: 1x 40mill Main Gun, 8x (2 quad) harpoon missiles (no reloads), 1x goal keeper 30mill CIWS and various small arms.

Welcome,

- I just use MS paint (not sure what to use on Macs)

- As to your missile boat looks interesting, I might just remove the goalkeeper and have one 40mm that can do all jobs (goalkeeper is quite deep under the deck and will use up room for engines), that would also allow you to move the gun/bridge backwards to let it get up on the plane easier.

OK yeah i like that idea ill do that, as for finding another program ill probably see if there is something close to paint you can get on the internet or something like that.

Paint.net is what I use.

Quick question, is this a hydro-plane or a hydro-foil? What you've drawn here looks to be a hydro-plane.

A hydro-foil will have wings underneath the water that lift the boat up at higher speeds (typically 40-50kts) primarily to decrease water resistance. On a hydrofoil design, you can fire the weapons, as it is designed to be a stable firing platform.
I'm working on a set of hydrofoils right now, primarily for testing and patrol work, that are based on the Pegasus hydrofoil hull. I'd recommend taking a look at other examples to get an idea on the hull shape and wing strut design (if you are going for a hydro-foil design).

As for a hydro-plane design, I don't know much, other than it will not likely be a suitable firing platform at speed.

Hello, Welcome to Shipbucket!
I have a mac and use Paintbrush which is free and very good for casual work.
If your more interested in an advanced program, GIMP is also free and available for Mac.

There are mainly two type base design of fast attack craft:

We have the typical Norwegian one, a basic missile, torpedo and cannon boat (35 knots+-, could do 40+ in war time):

The you have the American Pegasus class, missile and cannons (12 knots on hull, 48 knots on hydrofoil):

The Danish one is similar to other Fast attack craft, but the layout is different (40 knots):

I don't see why. They're no worse than normal planing hulls.

Yeah, that was a typo on my part. I got confused with the definition of planing for a minute there.
