A very slight improvement on (unknown)'s The top view of the director is pointing to the right, yes? There's a lot of detail in that little mount. |

Looking good, one minor remark: you could use the wiki instead of imgurl to host finished parts like this Keeps them all together and searchable. |

The Barrow-in-Furness Dockyard Museum website has reappeared along with its photo archive. Amongst its contents are images of the 5.1 inch gun designed in the 1930s, and tested on the leader Kempenfelt. |

In my quest of drawing older ships of the Norwegian Navy (later Royal Norwegian Navy), I am drawing ships that I haven't drawn yet but also redo and update ships i have, including one ship I have been given permission to redo a few years back (I have managed to collect so many pictures and drawings, that I almost lost! ) But first: Main gun of the Norwegian Coastal defense ship of Tordenskjold class (Tordenskjold=Thundershield ) It's the 8in/45 gun (1897) The gun is in Norwegian tradition a modified British gun, where most 8" gun on UK ships of that era is 8in/26 or 8in/30 (correct me if I'm wrong), The Norwegian 8in/45 had a higher velocity and greater range, on of the reason is that the class was a part of the long term build up to the collapse of the Swedish/Norwegian Union and there was need for ships that could go up against Swedish Coastal defense ships and punch there armor with ease but at the same time can engage them at longer range, then what the Swedish coastal defense ships could! - 8 in turret armor, possible barbette as well? - 3 deck penetration - Penetrating sort of "turtle deck armor" armored deck at waterline - Resting directly on top of the keel |
